What travellers are saying
- Terry MHamilton, Canada3,757 contributionsA rather large one, you are struck by the shade of green most prominently featured on first and second floors of surrounding buildings and the backs of chairs in restaurants. The Ayuntamiento anchors the plaza at one end. Near the end of the other is a statue of the city namesake. The usual collections of shops and restaurants are to be found in the arcades on two sides. As late as 1785 it held bull fights.Written 3 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Terry MHamilton, Canada3,757 contributionsDating from the second half of the 19th c, it has some 800 seats over three levels. It functioned as a theater until the 1950’s and was restored to theatrical use in 1989. Its style is neo-Greco-Roman. Like many such structures, it has had other uses over the years, including as a ballroom and a cinema. I was only able to see the exterior of the building.Written 5 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- peter_the_traveller4Deal, UK305 contributionsUnusual architecture which is crossover of a number of styles. Not quite Spanish, not quite gothic. But very interesting and worth a visitWritten 28 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- spencermijasBeckenham, UK41 contributionsBeautiful church, richly painted and decorated. Very good audio equipment. Pensioners go free! Excellent all round.Written 3 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- anipapanyanYerevan, Armenia75 contributionsI spent there a week for erasmus project and had my lectures there. I totally adored it cuz we were the only visiors and the whole hotl was ours. However, I wasn't satisfied with wifi. If you are at a hotel you are supposed to have wifi anywhere, especially if you are on a business trip. Wifi was ok in rooms, but at conferance halls it wasn't working.Written 18 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- PublicTransportFanBirmingham313 contributionsThis is a beautiful building (and also had the only stork we saw the whole week were were in the region) and the history is well-presented with an audio-guide. There are lots of interesting details and, if you look closely, a huge crack letting in daylight on the wall of the main staircase (which is closed to the public). However it was disappointing to me that it is only a shell - I wasn't exactly expecting there to be a functioning convent (although there still are, in other churches) - but even the beautiful big church isn't used any more and can't even be visited - it is kept in a pristine and empty state and can be viewed from the gallery.Written 24 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ulf-GourmetAlhaurin el Grande, Spain380 contributionsA beautiful church which for some reason has no tower. Built during the 1600's. during our visit very nicely decorated with lots of flowers. Had been several wedding the day beforeWritten 16 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
