Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- shane s19 contributionsBeautiful white sandy beach with turquoise sea. We'll worth a visit although parking can be limited on busy days. - jenniferbB490ZCErwinna, United States5 contributionsA lovely studio run by a talented, engaging and delightful couple. We immediately fell in love with their well constructed beautiful and functional pottery. Don't miss a visit for a good chat (although do not expect a contrived welcome, the chats just come naturally, as it would visiting artists in their studio) and to admire their craftsmanship, and if you want to take a piece of Roundstone magic home with you, look no further!
In addition to the pieces below, we also purchased another mug and a set of 4 bowls and stunning tea cups as gifts but neglected to take photos before shipping. It was well worth waiting to find the right gift made by special hands.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. She is a super instructor and we had a ball from start to finish. None of us had any experience but that wasn't an issue, her instructions were clear and we kayaked like pros. - Matthew JWarrington, UK400 contributionsWe visited Gurteen Beach whilst staying in Ireland.
On the plus side, this is a really pleasant beach - definitely one of the nicest in the area - which makes for a great walk. We took a stroll along it and the views along it are lovely. If you walk over the sand dunes, there are parts of the beach which seriously do look like they could be a screensaver, if you know what I mean!
Also, we found the beach to be relatively clean and tidy, so no issues there. There were a number of people sunbathing and eating picnics, so this place makes a great, clean spot for a such an activity.
There is also ample parking at this place and the spaces are not too tight.
There are one or two slight drawbacks, however, that you may wish to bear in mind. First, some parts of the beach have jellyfish on them so be careful if you're walking around.
Second, I was very disappointed to learn that there are no proper toilets here. The only toilets are portaloos which made me think I was at Glastonbury or some dreadful concert place! Unusually, these were quite clean (I think) although the toilet flush was broken in the left-hand toilet as I couldn't get this to work.
Also, if you're planning on getting here by car, please note that you have to come down lots of windy lanes. A lot of the drivers, particularly in Roundstone village (which you drive through) are extremely inconsiderate and try to overtake you when you're giving way to oncoming traffic, so it maybe a better option to get the bus.
Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to this lovely beach.Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Malachy Kerans' wealth of knowledge about the bodhran drum is the best. Fun to have a go at it. Helped ourselves to tea/coffee and delicious homemade biscuits. Lots of shopping opportunities, from high end stuff to little trinkets.Written 20 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife had the fish & chips, unfortunately not so good as there was very little fish, mostly batter.Written 12 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - helen g11 contributionsThe boat trip had been recommended by a family member and it was so amazing!
The weather helped but our guide Damien was outstanding. He was personable, kind and made everyone feel comfortable immediately. A couple of our party were nervous but were relaxed and at ease instantly after chatting to Damien.
The sites were beautiful and the dolphins even came to welcome us. It was a highlight of our trip and I would recommend highly.Written 11 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
