Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Waterfront park is a must see/stroll while in Charleston. It's right on the water with lots of trees, benches, and fountains. You'll get some great photos here. If the Carnival Sunshine is in dock, then you'll see that from here as well as crew members hanging out in the park enjoying a break from the ship.

Simply beautiful! We went in mid-March and the camilias were still in bloom and the azaleas had just started to come out. Gorgeous! We didn't get the 'combo' tickets for the gardens and house because the "house" was destroyed and so the building you go into is a small outer building that survived.

We spent about 2 hours at the site and we did take advantage of the garden overview tour which was free and lasted about 30 mins.

This might be the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I did not see tour the big house or the cabins. I was actually looking for a petting zoo for a toddler, this is NOT the place for that, although the wildlife center is kinda cool. The grounds/gardens/paths/bridges/pods are just breathtaking. Flowers of every kind , everywhere, beautiful serene little spots with benches and parks that never end . It's worth the ticket, and you can come back another time in the calendar year.

Amazing! So glad it was open. The staircase is magnificent. Self guided audio tour. Gardens are pretty even in March! Staff is super helpful. Plus there is an app for a walking tour of the city.

A town full of history, many old churches and cemeteries, sites and good place to eat. Using the free on and off bus was a great find.

If you have done markets in other countries or cities it is the same. Local art and crafts along with some food vendors. Don’t miss the stores on the street side. There are some great ones.

Walking White Point Gardens is certainly worth your time when in Charleston. You'll be treated to see the harbor adjacent to the historic architecture that the city is famous for. There are benches to sit on, and it's a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the city.

Magnificent stain glass windows enclose a mesmerising and extremely grand building with an amazing ceiling. My wife and I visited Charleston as part of a cruise and really enjoyed our stop off in this moving church. A relatively easy walk from the cruise ship terminal and well worth the effort to get there.

Loved seeing all the historic homes, colors and cobblestone streets. A must see for anyone who appreciates design and architecture.

If you love live theater that is imaginative, brilliant and well done, buy tickets to a production of this Company. If you have seen a musical on Broadway in NYC, you will find this company cut from the same cloth. Their production of Fools Rush in is comparable to "Forbidden Broadway," a spoof on Frasier, Sleepless in Seattle and a bit of You Got Mail. The vocals and acting make you feel like Broadway landed in your living room. The costuming and staging are so creative. For a really good time in Charleston, see a show at 34 West Theater Company, you'll be glad you did.

The Heyward-Washington House is down by the battery in the heart of the Charleston's most beautiful area. I opted for the ticket that allowed me entry into two other sites (the Charleston Museum and the Joseph Manigault house, both about one mile uptown) -- more than enough for me in one day. This site has the advantage of of providing audio guides rather than a well-meaning person. If I felt I had gotten enough information, I could move on. That said, the recorded information was all helpful in understanding the house, the furnishings, and their context in the 18th century. The gardens are particularly lovely, and it's worth saving some time for a wander and a quiet time to sit. Highly recommended.

The park is beautiful, as is the fountain. The view into the harbor from the fountain is beautiful as well. We didn't initially have the fountain on our list to visit, but glad we did. It was worth seeing.

A fascinating museum with an interesting mix of exhibitions and standard displays of art focusing a lot on Charleston and history.
