What travellers are saying
- LLD2215Atlanta, GA83 contributionsWe were not there at peak season, but a pleasant, fragrant experience for our first stop in Portland after bing on a plane all day. Enjoyed it and easy to navigate.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- PlaywithC272 contributionsThis place is beautiful. We learn a lot of how Japan was during the late 1800, early 1900. It’s peaceful, and relaxing. Highly recommended.Written 16 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- itsasmallworld2015Sarnia, Canada13 contributionsThe best urban park I've ever seen. Free shuttles around beautiful gardens, to the memorials, to the forested areas of the extensive arboretum, to the modern walkable zoo and through the beautiful local neighbourhoodsWritten 19 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bea TIrvine, CA367 contributionsBeautiful mansion with an amazing view of Portland. Take the time to stroll its garden - has a variety of flowering plants and trees. It was a pleasant visit!Written 21 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Linda CHinsdale, IL9 contributionsMy husband and I stopped here during our trip to Portland and he enjoyed this garden more than the Japanese Garden. It's very small but tranquil given it is in Chinatown in downtown Portland. The grounds are very lovingly maintained and while there were others also touring the garden with us, we never felt crowded or rushed. The tea house was a very peaceful spot to unwind with delicious almond cookies, mooncakes, and teas. A must for people who just want a little beauty and peace in the city.Written 17 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- lee mOakland, CA47 contributionsThe Holiday Lights are up and beautiful. Varying and a really good Grotto Carolers perform live Christmas music nightly in the chapel and outdoor tent. Lovely spot outdoors in Nature with a charming Friar Catholic Chapel. A large basalt cliff holds a shrine alter and daytime can take an elevator or wooded trails to gardens and a meditation area with large cross overlooking a North view to Washington State.Written 3 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cynthia CWillamette Valley, OR834 contributionsSmall towns and tiny cities, farmland and wineries. A great place to visit if you like peace and quiet, you will want to move here, but as lovely as the late spring and summer are, the rest of the year is nearly non-stop rain. So come visit in the dry season, you will not be dissapointed.Written 3 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Renee L3 contributionsIt was a beautiful hike, even - maybe especially - on the rainy day we had. From a fairly fit 65-year-old, I would take all the health and fitness advice offered in the tour description seriously. There were some steep inclines and fallen trees to navigate. Wear good, non-slip hiking shoes and bring your own water.
The only complaint I have, that was not made clear in the description or by the guide at the beginning of the hike, was that the tour did not end where it started. This could be very unsettling if you’re not prepared. I ended up at the Japanese Garden and got a Lyft back to my hotel from there.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - tmazionsmithSaint Paul, MN282 contributionsMy friend and I chose to visit this garden instead of going to the main botanical garden. I’m so glad we did! There were many Rhododendron still in bloom at this time. There are many other plants throughout the garden, though, that make it lovely. The waking paths are well designed, and there are multiple water features, both natural and man-made. I found the setting very peaceful and relaxing.Written 25 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LLD2215Atlanta, GA83 contributionsWe did this on a whim during a RAINY day. Was very pleasantly surprised as I did not see a lot of reviews about the museum. Really enjoyed their permanent collection and other. Well laid out as well.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- itsasmallworld2015Sarnia, Canada13 contributionsWonderful, extensive, well maintained paths with many labelled and diverse species of plants and friendly helpful staff in the visitor centreWritten 19 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cynthia CWillamette Valley, OR834 contributionsI would not go to the area just to see the bridge, but that said it is lovely, you must go out to the tower on the riverside to really appriciate it. Pretty sure it was the entrance to the library in The Librarians (2014 TV series).Written 3 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jeannie DCamarillo, CA466 contributionsThis is a large wonderful science and industry museum in Portland by the river. The exhibits are creative and were exciting for my 8 year old grandson. It would be better if they had a restaurant there as there were only snacks. The gift shop is amazing.Written 19 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Solo traveler27 contributionsWe were happy to see that the market was up and operating. There were over 150 market vendors open when we were there. A wide variety of items available from jewelry to unusual Portland themed t-shirts/hoodies to locally made clothing and food items. There were also the expected range of food vendors on site. While there are plenty of standard vendors with mid range fare there are also plenty of more unusual offerings as well.Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Danielle DReno, NV5 contributionsVery nice zoo. It’s set up so you can walk through the whole thing on a very cute ‘trail’. Clean, well maintained. We had a great time.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
