We visited this center on a tour with grandchildren and it was fantastic!

We had a class taught by Justin who was spectacular, and the kids learned about and touched sea creatures not normally seen by kids.

I highly recommend this place and they also had a wonderful small tide pool and museum.

My 13 year old son and I had fun and were awed by some of the weird & strange exhibits. Some highlights were the infinity room and the space room With the suited up astronaut. I recommend buying tickets for both sides of the museum. It went quick.

I’ve done a few glass blowing sessions before at other places but this was definitely the most hands on and fun session I have done. Jeff was an excellent and patient teacher, it was easy to follow his instruction and he let me do most of the work and only jumped in for the more advanced steps in the process. My husband and I had a wonderful time. Picked up our pieces the next day and my finished piece came out beautiful! I highly recommend doing a glass blowing session with Jeff at the Hot Shop when in Newport. You can reserve a session on his website..

We visited the PMHC for the first time in September and found it exceedingly clean, well-organized, and filled with valuable information on the history and heritage of the Newport community. Don't miss this one...and bring your camera! The views from its front windows are perhaps the very finest in the area. Highly recommended. P.S. The gentleman who met us at the entry, a volunteer, made us feel welcome and was a great source of information. To him, thank you!!

Lots of newer displays. The entire area was very clean. Buying a joint ticket with Ripleys makes it more worth the money. Parking is a premium as this was a very busy area.

Nice looking home. It is a museum now. They cover about their family. The house is huge!

Thomas, the father started to take pictures in 1900, especially of the new cars.

The Indians used to live in this town.

Lots of pictures and events that happened the last century.

We saw some baskets, school desks and some information about the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

They covered how people lived here.

It was quite interesting to learn from the past.

    Worthwhile to see!

There is always an interesting show going on at the Center, thought there doesn't ever seem to be a sign advertising what is going on inside. The bottom entrance leads you into a display room on the right (no charge) and there is an upstairs, leading to another gallery. The stairs are easy to find, however, it is not always clear where the show then is. I never see any signs upstairs leading to the room at the end of the hall to the left. There are interesting display cases upstairs and take a look in the meeting room on the upstairs right to see the magnificent view. Not sure how you can concentrate during a meeting when that view is presented.

The Yaquina Artists Association's gallery is a completely democratic place. By that I mean anyone who calls themselves an artist, and is willing to volunteer within the gallery, can find exhibit space. This means there is a wide diversity in the quality of the art work; but in Newport, where there are many fine artists one will find many examples of fine work resides within this space.

The building itself is of historic interest. It was once a place for beach visitors to change their clothes! Then, in the 1950's the building was given to the Artists Association "until a tsunami takes it down." You'll enjoy the wonderful mural painted on the exterior walls, as well as the ocean view while shopping for or admiring the many kinds of art work available for purchase.

This is a new gallery on the west end of the bayfront in Newport, near the Coast Guard station. They own a gallery in Salem as well.

I admit I'm not really into art. Whilst I enjoy looking at nice paintings and appreciate the talent it takes, I seem to always get "sticker shock" in an art gallery ;-)

This one has a good selection of different styles and subjects. Some paintings were whimsical; others serious. There is an upstairs gallery (no elevator) that has a collection of Disney artwork. The gallery also has a variety of sculptures and glass works. Everything was very nice.

The gallery has big windows and was filled with light on the sunny day I was there.

The clerk was friendly and personable, even though she realized I was just a "lookie loo"!

So as you walk the short section of Newport's beach walk area of shops and restaurants you may stumble upon this sweet little gem of an art gallery. It is a collective of local artist which shows real class. All the art is worthy of shows in much larger cities across the counrty. I am amazed! The very friendly and helpful folks who run the gallery are actually the artist themselves, what better way to get to know more about their masterpieces than to chat with them right there and not wait to some distant openning night of their featured work. The prices are quite well set. Go Enjoy!

    I can't recommend this experience more! 10/10 A++++++
It was an amazing, 3 generation, memory for a lifetime! From 8 years old, teenage girls and adults, it will be remembered forever.
Not only was it amazing because of the hands on experience, but the staff are some of the most AMAZING folks around, 2 legs and 4!
Thank you, we WILL be back!

Chuck Forinash is an amazing local coastal photographer and his gallery is filled with many of his works, from simple prints to elegant framings! We just got one of his latest, the Yaquina Bay Bridge with snow in the foreground, a rare sight indeed!

This gallery is one that you do not immediately notice. However, once you enter, you are immediately enchanted by the variety of the art. Some is more natural in nature, other pieces are breathtaking in their complexity. Artisans are there at different times and can teach you things about the art and/or Coast. Well worth popping in for a look.
