What travellers are saying
- Suzanne1LondonLondon558 contributionsHad a perfect day with my husband and 2 year old grandson. So much to see and the detail in the models is simply amazing.
We particularly liked the water-powered funicular railway and of course the trains running around the whole exhibit. I Liked the history in photos along one wall. We walked round twice and saw many things new on the second lap.
My last visit was in the 90's and it is better than I remembered.
There is a small play area and baby room. Plus a buggy park. There is an optional extra of a ride on a miniature railway. We didn't try the cafe.
My only negative was there should be clearer pricing in the toy shop at the exit, regarding the Schleigh animals.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GPTLebuDroitwich, UK1,389 contributionsCalled here for lunch etc on the return legs /from Waltham Cross. Parking excellent with really good great choice of outlets. Ideally situated before/ just after M25. We had Greggs, Honey Roast Ham and Egg Salad Roll, Mexican chicken flatbread and 2 flat whites. All really tastyWritten 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marco SSan Benedetto Del Tronto, Italy31 contributionsThis is the second house where the great journalist, writer, speaker and good man lived in Beaconsfield. It started as a studio, a working place, living Gilbert in the front door house, Overroads. Then it became his family home. Once it had a tree surrounded by the house. There was a sort of pulpit inside, used to read to his friends. When Gilbert died, his coffin was lowered down from the window (too large!). The crowd was so huge that the policemen directed it on a longer way to give to all a chance to present their respects to this great man. He was a good man: he funded the local children convalescence h, the Catholic Church and was loved especially by the common people. The other house is risking to be destroyed. It would be a great loss.Written 13 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BobBatyBeaconsfield, UK31 contributionsEasy to get to from London, will be of particular interest to Americans because of the Mayflower barn that has some timbers from the Mayflower that sailed to America with early Quaker settlers and it's association with William Penn.
Because of its Quaker heritage no pub, have to go next door to Seer Green.
The "Hones for heroes" similar to council houses now sell at very high prices.Written 4 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robyn BBirmingham, UK8 contributionsAfter reading some of the reviews I was not really sure what to expect, but we had a great time at the dim sum class. We were in a large group and we were called up in pairs a number of times during the class to help to prepare and cook the food for the whole group. So we were not hands on all of the time but I didn't think that mattered too much as when we were sat down we were watching the others and listening to the chef's guidance. I understand why the format is the way it is. The chef involved everyone and handled the class really well. The food we made was delicious and we have come away with some great tips.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
