A jump to far, what a great complex to visit, very worth while . Would highly recommended.

For a facility that has been the site of two Olympic Games this is a very historic facility.

We were lucky enough to go when the 80 meter hill was been used for training juniors, what a great spectacle.

The “short” trail is actually more difficult and the “long” trail isn’t much longer and is easier. We did the short trail up and the long trail down. The way up is basically climbing up and over boulders at an incline the whole way. Was a lot of fun but pretty intense. This is not your average hike (short trail.) bring plenty of water. Arrive before 8am or at or after 2pm when others are leaving. We got there at 2:30 and had open parking spots. On a Saturday.

We visited when there was winter competitions taking place...both xc skiing and luge. Very neat to see winter athletes in action. Authentic experience. The mountain coaster was closed....I imagine that would be a fun experience.

The town of Lake Placid was very nice - the main street lined with many shops and restaurants. Mirror lake was beautiful. Plenty of scenic spots to relax and enjoy.

Never could access Lake Placid itself. So I have no idea what it looks like, They need to put some access points in to see the Lake.

We had a nice drive up to see the lake. The fall colors were wonderful, and I made the drive interesting. You need to dress for the weather, because the wind can be very chilly. On a holiday Monday, many shops were super closed.

Great place to watch hockey with family and friends we were lucky enough to watch an invitational tournament at the facility w here the USA won there gold medal match against the USSR.

For a facility that is 23 years old its is a great stadium.

Great place to xcski! Groomed, wide corduroy with set track for skis. Well marked trails- maps available at check in desk. Map has cor coded trails for degree of difficulty. They also rent equipment. Reasonably priced used skis, etc also for sale. Clean restrooms in lodge, nice lounge area with tables and chairs to enjoy view or have your lunch. We bring our own. I last hiked this trail way back in 1973, when we hit a sudden snowstorm on the bare summit in early November. OK, so now it's summer, and I'm back doing a nostalgia hike. But WOW it's different now. Here are some things you need to know:

First of all, this trail is really, really crowded. So get there early, via the road that heads toward Adirondack Loj, if only so you'll be able to find a close-by parking spot. The Adirondack Mountain Club does an admirable job managing the nearest large (but still insufficient) dirt lot, even waving your car into a space when one opens up.

That's the least of what they do here among these high peaks, but in a way it is the most important thing, because you have to be able to GET there in order to hike there. If not an AMC member, it'll cost you 5 bucks to park, pretty cheap and definitely worth it because it's convenient and you're supporting a great organization.

If you're not prepared with maps, water, snacks or appropriate clothing, or if you need the bathroom before setting out, etc. there's an AMC building/store where you can get and do the needful.

But now, second point, to the trail itself.

It was tough-going for us and may be so for you. Once you pass the easy mile-long access trail to get from the parking lot to the Algonquin Peak trailhead, you should sign in at the rustic kiosk. The lower reaches beyond the entrance to the High Peaks Wilderness (marked with a sign) are pretty decent, very green and beautiful with only a gentle ascent to get you moving. But then: ROCKS, big and small, on our hike, set in oozy mud, all of it hard to get around without wrecking the woods adjacent to the trail (please don't).

The further we went, the worse the "rock falls" turned out to be, with some pretty big boulders that really stretched the leg muscles, stepping high up to get by the worst sections. The sad part is that, while working so hard to scramble over all the rocks, you tend to spend less time enjoying the woods and the beautiful sights all along the trail. Pity.

On a clear day, good views, I guess. We had blinding snow in 1973 and dark clouds in 2021, alas. The trail on the other side of the peak is shorter but descends much more steeply. It has the same problem, namely as the ascent, namely that with a lot of rain, the trail sometimes converts to a stream, and rushing water both erodes the dirt, exposing more rocks, or pushes more rocks down the trail in a kind of water-propelled slide.

I am sure there are better times of year to hike this trail. Probably early fall. I suggest anyone contemplating a hike up/back or up/over check the weather pretty carefully for a week or two beforehand. Come prepared for any kind of weather. On a beautiful day, with the trail dry and maybe not so strewn with muddy rocks, your experience may be a great one. If not, still worth it! Chance of a lifetime to be here, if you are fortunate and well-conditioned enough, ate any age, to make the trip.

Walked from the Golden Arrow Inn to the very top was 2.25 miles. From the trailhead to the very top was appx .8 miles so definitely a very short hike, some spots are a little challenging for people with mobility or in shape issues, but I found it quite easy. Views from the top are OK.

They have created a true sanctuary. My friend and I were in Lake Placid to snowmobile and took refuge at this foot sanctuary. They have created a quiet and warm environment to escape for an intentional foot treatment. The ambiance was perfect, the treatment chairs were comfy sofas with pillows, and the tea was delicious! I would drive from Lancaster, PA to Lake Placid to try another foot treatment!

The Spa at the Mirror Lake Inn is a must visit when in Lake Placid. My husband and I each booked a 25 minute massage in this luxurious spa. The massages were fantastic but the amenities before and after the massages made it the ultimate relaxing experience - the eucalyptus steam sauna before and the serene jacuzzi after. Highly recommend!

We visited their Lake Placid location and what an impressive shop! Kathleen was a joy to talk to and the set-up of this gastronomic delight made you want to get in the kitchen and whip up a meal for family and friends. They offered an incredible variety of olive oils, balsamics, and much more. They had wonderful gift sets and ideas. A little gem in Lake Placid for the foodie in you.
