On our most recent trip to Las Vegas we decided to walk the 3/4 mile accessible trail at Calico Basin that was closed for renovation during our 2019 vacation. It is any easy walk among spring fed trees and greenery with lots of birds present. The nearby hills offer a stark, but scenic contrast.

This is such a great day out, encountering live butterflies in their natural habitat, seeing the live lizards, scorpions, tortoises, snakes and other wildlife. One of the most interesting bits was the guided tour of the teaching garden with Charles, a very friendly, knowledgeable gardener who let us taste the loquats and herbs and showed us the chipmunk who nibbles his crops when he’s not looking! We had a delicious lunch in the Divine Cafe, explored the museum with its ancient indigenous buildings and pottery, experienced a flash flood in the canyon ( not for real, but still quite scary) and a railroad ride through history. To round off our four hour visit, we bought some delightful, affordable souvenirs in the shop. Highly recommended!

Very relaxing spot, easy to get to and FREE! Flamingos, ducks, a swan and koi. Animals seemed taken care of and happy. Great place for kids.

When we went we found so many turtles! This is my seven-year olds favorite animal so it was very exciting. Such a fun place to just get lost in. (Literally, we got lost.)

My family really enjoyed getting out and walking around this small refuge. The walking trails are easy for everyone in the family, and they were well maintained. This is a nice area to get out and stretch your legs.

My mom, my siblings and I were looking around for a reasonable place to see animals and stuff and we came across this beautiful place on the internet and it looked really cool , especially from reading all the reviews. As soon as we walked in the sanctuary it was nothing but absolutely amazing. The kids had a wonderful time. And they of course enjoyed the animals. There was seven of us kids from the ages of 3 months old to 21 yrs old, including my mom definitely enjoyed ourselves. And the weather was perfect and There's picnic areas where you can take your food in and just have the chickens running around you. Just absolutely amazing !!! HIGHLY RECCOMEDED

It was a beautiful hike, our guide Julio pointed out great sights and took us to some amazing views where you could see the whole city. The hike was not too easy and not too hard, it was perfect!

this is one of the point in the scenic drive, the first point is Calico I, the second point is Calico II, there are parking lots in both points, you can view the red rock at these 2 points, I post some photos here for you to take a look, so you have an idea what you will see in these points
