Amazing place. We went twice, it’s so beautiful and peaceful. The restaurant was closed for renovation but the snack bar was very good value for money and the food was lovely.

There’s so much to see and it’s all spectacular, it’s really nice to get the pots of food for the fish, birds and goats as well.

    Definitely worth a visit.

The zoo is nicely laid out with lots of nice paths everywhere and displays. The lemurs were especially fun since you can go into their enclosure. The big cat enclosures, however, were very disappointing and upsetting . They’re too small. We watched a Cougar pacing round and round a small enclosure obviously bored and going crazy. These big cats are here where I live and they wander over huge swaths of land so this must be absolute torture to it. I found it disturbing.

This beach is a little difficult to find, but once you do, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped onto a movie set of some kind. Gorgeous and pristine, this huge beach is beautiful with crystal clear water. A can’t miss!

Long almost empty (really it was in the middle of April in the week day from 9 to 12 a.m.) beach with yellow sand and shadow of coco palmtrees.
There are showers a restroom. Showers or on open space and restroom need to be clean more frequently - compared to west European hygienic standards. But both can be used without fear.
There are some restaurants around. Prices are higher.

First things first, if driving there make sure you put St Claude into your sat nav’s to get to the car park.
Due to getting lost on way to car park, we arrived at about 10.00 and the car park was already full, as were most of the parking bays down the hill, so ended up walking a little distance before even starting on the path.
You don’t need a guide for this hike it is easy to find the way by yourself.
It took us 2.5 hours up and 2 hours down again. I almost found coming down as difficult as going up, scrambling down on my backside in some parts. It is quite a strenuous hike, climbing up over boulders at some points. I’m not sure I would have liked to do it in the rain. We saw some people with kids in backpacks etc, I’m honestly not sure how they got back down!
Make sure you take plenty of water as there is nowhere to buy any, I would suggest at least two litres each if you can carry it, and some snacks.
We both wore trainers which was fine as it was dry. Boots would probably be better if it is wet.
The views on the way up and at the top are pretty spectacular.
We didn’t swim in the hot springs as the poster about the ‘micro organisms’ put us off a little!
There are no toilets available anywhere.
This climb was on my ‘bucket list’ to do, and I’m glad I did.
Would I do it again though? Probably not.

We had a great hiking tour here.
According to the weather forecast, there was high risk of heavy rain, and we were advised to only go to the 2nd waterfall.
The 2nd waterfall is worth seeing, but you only walk approx. 20 minutes one way and then see the waterfall from a viewing platform that is quite far away.
We therefore decided that it was a pity going all the way to only do this and opted for the hiking tour to the first waterfall. The hike is of medium difficulty and it takes at least 3 1/2 hours both ways, but it is really worth the effort. You can go very close to the waterfall and even swim there. The landscape there is great and even on a cloudy day the colours you see are impressive.
We were lucky as the heavy rain only started later, but indeed I would not recommend this hike when it is raining as the path can get slippery and dangerous.

Plenty of activities to book from here, diving, boat trips etc. Also like 4 restaurants to have lunch or a drink. Th beach itself it's not that big. Definitely the highlight was the boat trip with the bottom glass and a quick swim after.

Nice waterfall near Pointe Noire, south of Deschaies. The access is very steep and I wouldn't do it if it's wet. The rocks are slippery. It's a beautiful setting and pleasant water. Great jumping from the rock ledges. Fun way to spend a few hours.

The visit was very interesting, we learnt a lot about the cultivation of coffee, banana and vanilla.
Joël, the guide and one of the co-owner was a captivating storyteller and I fully recommend a visit with him.
Hopefully their farm get more success with the weather and they would be able to develop this project further.

Explanation of the production, machinery, the distilling process, the feeling of 85% rhum on your hands and lips, walking around the fields and of course a tasting. A nice hour to spend when you are in the area.
