What travellers are saying
- kay-cee-1138Houston, TX422 contributionsWe decided on the spur of the moment to visit the town of Sonoma, and we found the plaza to be a good place to start. It is the centrally-located green park (though it seems like people also use the term to refer to the many businesses which surround the park).
Speaking just of the park, many people were strolling around it the Friday (11/25) we visited. It is pleasant and tree-lined; in fact, at this time the leaves of the ginko trees were already starting to turn to a brilliant yellow.
The regional visitors bureau is located there on the east side of the park. We found the staff at the tourist office to be engaging and helpful. And there are public restrooms on the back (west side) of the building.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Danielle N39 contributionsI love this winery. The setting is amazing - sit on the veranda and face the pool - it is like a Monet Garden in CA! (Walk up to the pond and watch the fish come racing to you thinking you will feed them - it is hilarious!).
Love their wines - love their employees - we have always loved our wine tasting experience here and this time was no exception.
We also shared the charcuterie tray and I wish I had asked about the salami - it was so good and yet the taste was just a little different....Written 18 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had visited Cline Family Vineyards several years ago. They had just acquired amphorae (terra cotta wine barrels). We stopped at Cline and was told they moved them to their sister vineyard, Jacuzzi. We found they are using them for 2 wines so we were able to do a tasting that included them. TIm gave us a great tasting experience with so much related historical information. The wines were great as was Tim’s efforts. Great total experience to close out the amphorae storyWritten 6 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Myles RWaveland, MS82 contributionsReservation required but well worth the effort. This beautiful winery is only surpassed by the superb wine offerings. One of the few REAL wine caves in the area. Tour includes multiple wine tastings, off-road vehicle ride to a beautiful overlook, pinching a few grapes off the vine (when avail), tour of the processing area, caves and finished with a bountiful charcuterie board with additional wine tastings. Worth the cost and a definite MUST DO in Sonoma.Written 19 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Worlds_of_WonderSan Francisco, CA256 contributionsThis was my 2nd favorite winery. Some really good wines, but what I most enjoyed was the Pinz tour run by Rob, one of the family, and learning more about the winery's efforts to become organic/sustainable. Pinz tour would not be that good if a lot of people, but is wonderful if the group is small--stopping in the vineyard to enjoy the scenery and have a charcuterie/cheese platter is a treat. tour also includes some small souvenirs. Did not hear any, but there are often opportunities to hear music.Written 18 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kay-cee-1138Houston, TX422 contributionsIn Sonoma Coast State Park, Shell Beach is the first that one encounters south of the intersection of Route 1 and Route 116. There are about thirty marked parking spaces, and it looks like folks routinely park along the entry road as well. The lot is a trailhead for the Kortum Trail, which goes both north and south from here along the top of the coastal cliffs. Public restrooms are located discretely in the trees beyond the end of the parking lot. Some rough stairs lead steeply down to the beach itself, which seems to be made up of large-grained very dark sand. But really, just sitting at the top of the cliff, away from the comings and goings at the parking lot, is a fine experience in itself. One has an excellent view of the waves crashing high against the sea stacks below, and with luck it'll be a clear afternoon and perfect for watching the reddening sun dip toward the Pacific horizon. While walking the path at the cliff top, this reviewer was pleased to spot some striking orange and yellow African torch lillies (genus Kniphofia) growing nearby (even then, in late November).
There is no entry fee to access the trail or go down to the beach.Written 18 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The mix of instruction and drive time is great, but the real star is that F3 racecar. These machines when pushed can allow you to experience about 3G's of lateral force and supercars don't come close to this. You do need to feel comfortable with clutchless shifting, which one guy in our group did not know how to do and always clutch shifted out of the pits in the face of the instructors trying to get him to do clutchless shifting. There is no feeling like pulling 3-4G's - it is incredibly addictive. If you are sitting on the fence, trust me just do it as it was one of the most fun days I've ever had!Written 7 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hanna T4 contributionsBeing first time wine tasters we didn't know what to expect, and we're so glad that we did it! A must do experience in Sonoma. Our host Brandon was welcoming and informative, and the wine itself was lovely. We were able to walk here from the central Plaza, convenient location, and set on beautiful land.Written 22 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ellie C109 contributionsGloria Ferrar champagnes are always great. However I do agree with a previous reviewer, that a requirement to buy a charcuterie plate with the tasting is a bit much.
With that said, the wait staff was great, the views are spectacular and the bubbles were tasty!Written 12 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The winery provides a great area to relax and enjoy your wine with wonderful scenery.Written 4 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KleimeCuyahoga Falls, Ohio, United States472 contributionsThis winery is nestled in a neighborhood and was quiet the day we stopped in. We had no reservation, just stopped for a glass of wine and walked around the winery. We enjoyed our wine in their courtyard with a fountain in the center, very relaxing.Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - travelqueen15Philadelphia, PA845 contributionsThis was by far the best experience we had on our most recent trip. We did the lunch experience and it was amazing. The farm to table food was intriguing and outstanding. The wines were perfection. Our host Zach was great. The caves were so fun to see.Written 26 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Adi MSan Jose, CA60 contributionsI came to Ram's Gate on the first (heavy) rain in September.
At the entrance, I was greeted with a glass of white wine while waiting for the start of our pre booked experience.
We did the quick tour and view of the grounds (it was raining), and then went inside into the Library, for a wine and food airing experience.
The place is beautiful, and the decor and ambiance of the library is outstanding.
The host, Mercedes, was amazing, and contributed to making the experience really special. It is not just the food the wine, or the location, but rather the entire package that makes such an experience special, and Mercedes is a wine connoisseur that with her knowledge and storytelling abilities and sense of humor definitely put an excellent package together.
Highly recommended, and ask for Mercedes when you book it.
