Cabrillo Bike Path
#2 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
We start at the far west end of Shoreline Park and bike along the beaches, past the Andree Clark reserve, turn at the sign to the Music Academy of the West and continue to follow the path past Ty Warner's mansion...
You can ride on the dedicated path, almost completely without being on a street with cars, from Ledbetter Beach at Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara to the Coral Casino and Biltmore Hotel in Montecito.
Shoreline Park
#3 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
Park was beautiful, so gorgeous to see the sun coming in and the clouds rolling away, fun kids playground, great walking path for dogs, people were eating lunch on the benches, beautiful views and just a great pla...
Every review mentions that Shoreline Park is the perfect place for a picnic or for walking along the bluff overlooking the seashore, with that invigorating salty air, that great view down the coast, over the ocean...
Cold Spring Tavern
#4 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
Weekends are crazy busy so be prepared to park along the road way before the tavern.
Arroyo Burro County Beach Park
#5 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
You can also walk to the back parking lot area and catch a trail that goes to a park on the top of the cliff - also dog friendly.
Arroyo Burro County Beach Park offers a beautiful beach which is both dog and kid friendly.
Santa Barbara Zoo
#6 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
... information placards for the animals and vegetation (very informative and interesting), there are a lot of benches and tables spread about the park and they are very environmentally green which I really liked.
Park staff was very friendly - right after we entered, one gentleman went out of his way to escort us all the way across the zoo so we could be on time for the feeding of and short lecture on the meerkats.

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
#7 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
If you like nature, these gardens are beautiful!! Different sections including redwoods and desert, miles of trails crossing the creek, friendly employees.
Would recommend for individuals, couples, and families who enjoy nature walks, and who need a breather away from the busy city life!
Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens
#8 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
The park offers a relaxing atmosphere where you can sit on a bench, stroll the pathways lined with interesting flowers, or watch the ducks.
I love that the park changes almost daily, so that every time you visit there is something new to see.
Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center

Went with my two 11 year old children and they loved the interactive nature of the place.

Douglas Family Preserve
#10 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
It's a great pace for dogs, but it's also a great place to take a leisurely walk on the paths that criss-cross this 70 acre park on a bluff overlooking the ocean.
We found this off the beaten path, beautiful, ocean-front bluff park a bit by chance, but vote its vistas in the top five SB (perhaps top ten in all Caly).

El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park
#12 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
The blend of different peoples foods, animals, and survival habits are revealed by this eye opening journey through the time capsule of this very small State Park.
We used our AAA discount to see this historical park so only $2.50 admission!

Thousand Steps Beach
#14 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
If you are looking for a local's favorite, 1000 Steps or Shoreline Park beaches are one of them.
It reminds me of the beaches around LaJolla San Diego as well as Stanley Park Vancouver.

Alameda Park
#15 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
Just across the street, Alice Keck Park has beautiful gardens, with pathways winding around among many different kinds of flowers, trees and vegetation, plus a big pond with lots of turtles and bright koi fish.
Spectacular - but a shame the park put a dumb picnic table next to the tree that takes away from it gorgeous beauty.
Rattlesnake Canyon Trail
#16 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
Trailhead for Rattlesnake Canyon is by Skofield Park.
Happily I did not encounter any rattlesnakes along this picturesque trail through some of the glorious parks surrounding Santa Barbara although sadly parts of it had been scorched by a recent wildfire.
Chase Palm Park
#17 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
We had a memorial service and catered lunch at the Casa Las Palmas building at the park - great venue!
That wonderful lady lobbied mightily to keep this beachfront undeveloped as a city park lined with palm trees.
Lake Cachuma
#18 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
There is a boat dock, a lake cruise, a little store, a really cool nature interpretive center (spotted lots of birds and a huge wild turkey), scheduled activities all summer, and really clean and updated restrooms...
The staff went above and beyond to make sure our seniors were safe upon arrival and departure; even the park rangers helped us disembark!! Binoculars were given to each guest to enhance wildlife viewing.
Franceschi Park
#19 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
The sweeping views of Santa Barbara from this quiet, out-of-the-way park is breathtaking!
Envigorating and worthwhile, a walking trek beings you closer to the nature of hte city and its origins.
Elings Park
#20 of 44 Nature & Parks in Santa Barbara
Then drive (or walk) to the upper park for tremendous views of the downtown area, the ocean and the mountains to the north.
Isnt it a special treat to be able to go to a beautiful safe place to enjoy nature in the heart of a beautiful city.
