Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Damsters1971Swords, Ireland10 contributionsWe found this hidden gem by chance. Fantastic experience with insightful and passionate guide in Aaron. Another harrowing tale from our dark history. Well worth the entry fee and more should be done to advertise.Written 2 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Drummer3Dublin, Ireland270 contributionsThere are a few different length routes to follow depending on your time and fitness. There are bike trails as well as walking ones. Lovely forest walks that comes out near Lough Derg at one point. There is free parking too.Written 17 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 301lisa33Coventry, UK1,609 contributionsReally interesting location. This is a C17 castle - well stately home - which was largely destroyed by fire in C19. Renovation only started relatively recently. One floor is open for visiting. There is plenty of interpretation. Some few contemporary items are on display. The rose garden is very elegant. Dont miss the sizeable walled kitchen garden. The cafe is appealing tooWritten 2 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dpl434Ballincollig, Ireland51 contributionsWell preserved and interesting to read the gravestones. Some dating back to the 1680s. Lovely to see the flowers and plants taking root in the stone walls as well. It's an easy walk through the Forest Park from the Portumna Castle or along the road way from the Harbour. Worth a visit if you enjoy old friaries, abbeys and such.Written 18 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ClaireKilkenny 6 contributionsWhile staying at Pod Umna with a few friends we called into The Boathouse for a few drinks! I honestly couldn’t speak highly enough of this pub. So clean, and the outdoor drinking area is gorgeous! Couldn’t fault the staff, so friendly and kind, even have us umbrellas walking home as it was lashing rain!Written 8 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
