What travellers are saying
- Ben FBloomington, IN1,137 contributionsI couldn’t actually step into the market, because as an electric wheelchair user, I couldn’t find ramp access points or elevators in the facility. The only option would’ve been to climb a set of stairs, which would’ve been logistically challenging for me. Perhaps I missed a suitable entrance, but I’m pretty sure that when researching accessibility online, I came up with the same assessment. Such a bummer.
However, able-bodied travelers should explore the market. It’s an incredible space for the community to enjoy. San Telmo as a neighborhood is beautiful, and the market is no exception. It’s a good chance to support local artisans. Even though I missed out on the interior of the market, the exterior was nice and inviting, and I give it a generous four stars. Just add ramps next time!Written 21 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - louisa756Dallas, TX60 contributionsThis Argentine tango show is held inside the Borges Cultural Center (BCC) located inside the beautiful Galerias Pacifico shopping center in Buenos Aires. Theater type seats are basic, cushioned, and comfortable.
Different performances of tango are scheduled for different days during the week. Three of us went to see Pasion de Tango show on a Tuesday evening. One of the few early tango shows in Buenos Aires central area so you can plan other activities such as wining and dining at other places.
One purchases open-seating tickets at least one-hour before the show at their manned kiosk inside the BCC. Cost in Feb 2020 was only $900 Argentine Pesos. Cash only, no credit cards. Theatre is air-conditioned and kept at a comfortable temperature. Lighting is good. Sound is good.
No photography or video recording of any kind is allowed during the performance. They sell DVDs after the show however, we never found them.
The performance included a small live band which played quite well. The dancers performed historic Argentine tangos covering several periods and costume changes. A solo male singer serenaded the audience between dances. The entire show started early at 8 pm and ended at just over an hour. This allows finding dinner later at a dedicated restaurant.
In summary, a great introduction to historic Argentine tangos with no frills (no drinks or food service to gouge patrons).Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - panamtravelkidLos Angeles, CA292 contributionsnice festival atmosphere with lots of stalls of offerings. The handmade artisanal crafts were nice, but plenty of touristy things to weed through. Artistic hand painted postcards, handmade wallets from leather or colorful cloth - all very sweet keepsakes when you get home. A great place for non-cheesy souvenirs and gifts for friends, family, assistant, and holiday gifts . There is very little shade, so suggest bringing a hat. Leave time to peruse, see local performers and maybe a band of drummers will start a party in the street!Written 12 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- sndovaleLincoln, CA1,183 contributionsWe really enjoyed an afternoon here. This is a place locals go to enjoy the atmosphere, food, music and culture.Written 25 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- sandy cCopenhagen, Denmark596 contributionsNormally when I see the words 'cultural centre' I imagine an empty old building serving as a make-work project and people paid to sit around and do nothing. But here, it's much different.
Young people dancing- in different styles from room to room. Workshops, DJs, Art galleries and exhibitions small and large, wild and wonderful. Whoever curates this place really puts together fantastic presentations. There's even a hands-on science gallery for younger kids. (Touching the displays is mandatory!)
I admit it felt a bit strange as an outsider wandering through, but what is art for if not to be seen? But wander you must! There are many galleries within- some along the inside hallway, others along the outer corridor.
There is a craft market outside with food vendors on Saturdays, and a cafe at least inside. In addition they'll have concerts and films, check their web site if you want the current program.
Overall, it was the joy and exhuberance of everthing going on here that made my visit worthwhile.Written 21 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - David20130609Waunakee, WI1,162 contributionsOutdoor mall. Mostly cloths we few other stores. It was end of summer with lots of sales. Good prices.Written 29 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nelson CSalvador, BA1,208 contributionsThis market strong side are furnitures and lots of beautiful junk. Alleys and alleys. Nevertheless, you can find hidden gems: the original libreto of operas, precious first edition of books, old fashioned posters and much more. We got a beautiful very old necklace of blue quatro with a golden finishing. Not cheap, but beautiful!Written 21 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WImomFond du Lac, WI2,339 contributionsPatio Bullrich was located across the street from our hotel, Sofitel Buenos Aires Recoleta. We went here for a walk but didn't shop. Many upscale shopping chains plus other local vendors. Security had a good presence. Food court had a great variety.Written 26 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Queen JCalifornia2,093 contributionsA 3min walk from the Catedral subte (metro) stop, you'll find Galleria Guemes. Built in 1915, Galería Güemes was the city’s first skyscraper. The 16-story building is now an average mall housed in one of the best art nouveau buildings in the world. It is said that the writer of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, once lived in an upstairs apartment in this building.
Sit in the cafe on the ground floor and look up at the glass dome ceiling. For 60 pesos, you can take an elevator to the 14th floor, then climb a spiral staircase to see views of the buildings in the Florida area and the Rio de Plata in the distance. The observation deck is open M-F from 9-12pm, and from 3pm – 5:30pm, but is closed on weekends. We popped into this building around 1pm, so we couldn't go to the observation deck, but we had already visited nearby Palacio Borolo, which is higher, anyway.Written 15 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TrekkiebootsDublin, Ireland592 contributionsThis little shopping mall is very pretty. It has these lovely cobbled streets with an eclectic mix of shops, some with lovely local crafts. Worth a visit if you're in this lovely neighbourhood.Written 6 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WorldTravelers34Chicago, IL2,399 contributionsWe walked through this mall on a recent trip to Buenos Aires. The Abasto shopping center is probably the one mall in Buenos Aires that has at least something to appeal to all people, of all ages. It’s wonderful 1930s Art Deco architecture and grand size add to the experience. In 1999, Abasto was reborn into a shopping center as it was refurbished completely on the inside, and with additional structures at the back and side, but keeping the original beautiful Art Deco façade. The area around Abasto also just happens to be where the most famous tango singer of all time, Carlos Gardel lived for most of his life. It is worth seeing this building. Go to the food court level and admire the ceilings.Written 26 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

A new mall in Recoletta .
If you just want to wander and search for great shops plse try Recoleta MallWritten 31 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - md115Potomac, MD395 contributionsI was pleasantly surprised by BA Design Mall.
It's a small mall, located next to the Hard Rock in the outskirts of Recoleta.
The mall's focus is almost exclusively home goods (kitchen, furniture etc).
Almost as unusual as the mall's focus is that some of the stores actually have reasonably priced merchandise.
We purchased some leather place mats.
One of the stores had some unique, well designed and reasonably priced glasses that we didn't buy due to concerns re shipping.
I wouldn't make a special trip here, but if you're in Recoleta, and you have the time, it's an interesting 15-20 minute visit.Written 2 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - ksjones6San Diego, CA28 contributionsI would give this place 6 stars if I could. It was recommended to me by a friend. I went in around 11 am, and asked about getting a jacket tailored to fit. I picked out a style and color, and they took my measurements, asked how many days I was visiting for, and when I said 2, they said, “oh, we better get this to you tonight.” I went out to dinner, and when I got back, my perfectly fitted jacket, which was reasonably priced, was waiting in my hotel room. That’s what I call a happy and memorable retail experience.Written 11 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- nikkibairstowBrisbane, Australia30 contributionsThis is a shopping outlet that is easy on the eye. In the trendy Palermo District. An old train station that has been transformed and looks awesome. Some delicious little cafes and ice cream places. Plenty of outlet shops of popular brands, but compared to prices I can get at home in Australia - EXPENSIVE!Written 4 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
