Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our lovely guide Echo took us late afternoon to this old street. Lots of interesting shops and restaurants but quite crowded. Worth a look though.

Chengkan village has well preserved residential architecture from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). Chengkan village is also widely known as Bagua Village (八卦) relating to Taiji philosophy that focuses on two aspects – Yin and Yang. This can be seen in a lot of the old residential houses. It is highly recommended that you hire a guide. If you can understand Chinese, then local guides can be hired at village entrance for a small fee of rmb50 (the guide will take you through the village and explain a lot of Fengshui design of the buildings to you. The tour would take around 1 hour and if you want to spend longer than it is another rmb50). The local village has very limited English speaking guide. While you can tour the village yourself, a lot of cultural knowledge is lost without someone explaining. While this is not as tourist or famous as Hongcun and Xidi, it is definitely worth a visit.

This is our second visit and we’re content that we stopped again. This place is just so peaceful and relaxing and that is what you’ll need after visiting some of the touristy spots in Huangshan. There is not much to do, souvenirs to buy but what it has is a nice place to take a relaxing stroll in nature.

You cannot visit at the momet as there is a big renovation going on. From the look of it it will take till next summer before it will be open again.

While I found this village to not be as interesting as other more famous villages in the area, the setting is superb. With the cascading mountains in the backdrop, it is truly inspiring to take many photos and marvel at their place in which they live. Unfortunately my phone ran out of battery so I haven't any pics but on my next trip to Huangshan, I will capture it. It is still unforgettable in my mind though and thus worth a trip out here.
