Absolutely beautiful island; calm, safe and authentic. Definitely a lovely place to stay during a stay in Rio!!!

If you're curious about old Rio, this is as close as you can get and it's onle about 40 minutes away from the city by ferry boat. It's easily done in a day and totally worth it.

if you travel to rio dont miss out on this one day tour to nearby island. the travel is initially by bus for 3 hrs followed by a whole day on boat doing island hoping. They stop at three islands where you can take a dip in the cool and pristine waters. dont take the scuba gear. thats a rip off as you hardly get any colourfull fishes to see. lunch is served on board. the views are amazing and if you are in a group its just more fun

Excellent place within minutes from Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro.
Departed at 9 o´clock with Segredos do Mar, diving team, and enjoyed a great diving with dolphins and turtles. Also had a great barbecure on my way back to the boat.

We spent the weekend on the secret island and it was an amazing experience.
Even if it’s just 1-2 hours away from Rio, it seems to be in a completely other world.

The locality is surrounded by a beautiful nature, with little hiking trails that invite to explore the island. The sceneries are just stunning, at every corner you discover a new drop-dead gorgeous place. The colonial architecture buildings are kept in a very good condition, with a lot of precious details and makes you feel thrown back in time.

It’s the perfect place to escape from civilization, forget about anything, enjoy nature, calm down, chill and recharge the batteries.

For me the island for sure belongs to one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.

Totally recommended, can’t wait to go back!

Less than an hour away from Rio, one reaches Paquetá island by ferry from Praça XV for less than 7 reais; timetable can easily be found on the CCR Barcas page.
One can walk around the whole island with no fear whatsoever, to enjoy a feeling of Brazilian's countryside despite being so near a metropolis and with calm waters all around; not all beaches are clean enough for swimming.
Some restaurants and even guesthouses are there, allow yourself to 'get lost' on the island as a break from Rio, a real must!!
