About 50 artists that have showrooms and also showcase how they do their art. Jewelers, painters, sculptures etc. All of this on the on the Potomac River.

We got up early to visit one of the oldest Farmer’s markets and avoid the crowds. Located right about in the middle of King Street. It was easy to find. We wanted to stock up on some snacks before a long day of touring. We picked up some beautiful fruit and cheeses. There were numerous vendors and plenty of choices.

I liked for Principle Gallery for a few reasons. First, the staff were friendly without being pretentious. Secondly, the quality of the paintings was notable. Principle represents a number of artists and also has opening receptions. They let you peruse around and do not follow or bug you. It is a nice place to go if you are hanging out on King Street. The art is reasonable price and without cheap reproductions.

Victorins antiques has a great selection of vintage things. I spent half an hour on their website to see what to choose. I participated in an online auction and was happy to win an item.

I really like community based art galleries and tucked away in Alexandria across from DC I came across Del Ray Artisans. They have exhibits that change on a regular basis and the art was decent. There was a friendly group and you get that community feeling.

A small shop full to the brim with all sort of beautiful and interesting antiques. They have a lot of cutlery, keys, figurines, jewelry and just weird and wonderful stuff. The staff is really welcoming and agreeable and let you browse undisturbed.

This is an interesting spot along the Mount Vernon Trail. There are lips and eyes and an obelisk, but no real explanation for them. I say keep running, walking, or jogging by it.

I stop by once a month or so and stock up on fresh veggies and grass fed chorizo and beef. It is small, but has a great variety, including lots of pastries, cheeses, kim chee, pastries, bread and cookies. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby

They are open every Saturday, but during the winter you can't expect many veggies. Some vendors accept credit, but most just take cash.

I was happy to find a farmer's market nearby that is open year round. Fresh produce is available, along with a variety of other vendors: ceramics/pottery, fruit juice, handmade items, home baked goods, and I was happy to see a vendor with Ecuadorian food (as I used to work and live in Ecuador... and have been craving empanadas and tigrillo). Usually there is live music apparently, but I visited right at 9 am before the music got set up. Nice little seating area too, to enjoy the music and homebaked goods. Plenty of free parking is a plus.

We've stopped by here twice this week to get a tall glass of iced tea, both the chocolate black tea and the mint chai nilla was delicious. It's a great place to get a few packets of tea to take home.

What a wonderful, eclectic combination of specialty goods from around the world. Kate was so helpful in helping me select a special gift for friends. She told me the background stories on each product and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and the positive missions involved in the fair trade products. High on my list for must return to stores.

I got a couple of items here. The shop is attractive with very nice quality items for sale. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even helped us figure out where to eat, etc. Absolutely recommend, and I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

A truly festive place to stop in, especially during the Christmas season! They have 3 floors of Christmas decorating ideas, ornaments, lighting, etc and lots of friendly folks to help out. We always find something interesting for our tree and to give for gifts!

Olio' s. specializes in olive oils, vinaigrette, sauces, teas, and other gourmet condiments. Great selection and lots of tasting. A great store on king street and fun to visit.

Professional and knowledgeable staff! I brought in my wife's engagement ring a couple days ago to get it resized, and was able to pick it up the next same day in the evening. They helped me understand the resizing process and I was happy with the result and price. Would definitely recommend.
