Look, you get to learn about samurai, get a first hand glimpse into a culture that's been painstakingly preserved for almost 500 years, and you get to cut actual things with a real sword. I mean come on, what's to love?

For real though, the experience at KSE is engaging, informative, and above all, fun. The hosts are lovely and the demonstrations are done with a level of precision, showing their dedication in preserving this sliver of Japan's rich cultural heritage.

If you're coming to Kyoto and want a unique experience, give this a try. You'll enjoy it.

As a resident of Tokyo I've been to Kyoto many, many times but this was by far the best and most special experience I've had. The Maiko-san was lovely and her performance exquisite. We had so much fun playing games and chatting with her. Dinner was amazing too - I love Japanese food so it was really nice. Thank you Miho-san for being a wonderful host. Have recommended this to my friends. If you're traveling to Kyoto this is a must see. Even residents of Japan do not have the opportunity to meet a Maiko-san or Geiko (Geisha) - once in a lifetime opportunity.

My brother and I scheduled a half day private walking tour our first full day visiting Kyoto. Our guide was Miho - she was absolutely wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the area & did a great job fitting in many stops without making our day feel rushed. Throughout the day she also gave us tips on good restaurants to try, how to use the public transportation (subway & buses very popular), other sights that were must see & local shopping. It was the perfect way to start our time in Kyoto & her recommendations made the rest of our time there very enjoyable.

I had a fantastic time with my guide Taku! I got to see so many different parts of Kyoto throughout the tour. I'd especially recommend Taku if you are interested in Geiko (Geisha). I learned so much throughout the tour and was recommended so many cool spots. I didn't really have anywhere particular that I wanted to see going into the tour, but Taku took my limited input and planned out an amazing experience.

My wife and I had a fantastic time with the sensei here. We had been to ninja houses in Shiga and other places, but they were kind of cheesy. Ninja Dojo and Store really delivered. History, weapons, training, symbolism, and real hands-on training. Loved it! We would recommend to anyone.

English was not a problem. The teacher is so well-spoken even people not confident with their English or Japanese should be able to understand and have fun.

I absolutely recommend this tour! My guide Mardi is clearly very sharp and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Japan. It was really great to have a guide who is truly fluent in English to answer my numerous questions. I really enjoyed eating like a local and seeing an authentic side of Kyoto. I booked the tour as a solo traveler, but never felt awkward or out of my element. I had a great time and felt right at home.

This experience was fantastic! It was really cool to have the chance to wear a kimono without the pressure of wearing it out in public. There's a wonderful garden where I had my photo taken. Afterwards I participated in the tea ceremony, learning a lot about its process and history. I even had the chance to practice making my own cup of matcha. Every staff member that I encountered spoke fantastic English and I never felt like I didn't understand what was being said. Highly recommended, especially if you want to ask questions throughout the experience.

Exploring Kyoto with 2 wheels, you can go most of the must-see spot (temple, shrine) in one day, moreover, traveling through small alleys and having lunch in local restaurants are definitely an unique experience in Kyoto.

The guide in this tour is Indra, who is an expert in the Kyoto history and super friendly, recommended!

The entire experience was amazing. My tour guide Akiko is a gem. She was punctual, did not rush the tour and experience, listened to interests, was very informative, and even helped and provided information for other places to consider visiting. I also liked that taxis are used for some transport to optimize the experience. Thank you to the tour company and most especially to Akiko for showing me what Kyoto is about - it is spectacular. Will be back again and will definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

Haruka is a very pleasant young man who is relaxed and eager to hear what his clients wish to visit. A good introduction to the city and its social activities.

We were very fortunate to have Hisano guide us around from Nishiki Market to Fushimi Inari shrine and Gion. Hisano is very friendly and cheerful and we have learnt so much about Kyoto from her. Thanks to Hisano for showing us the beautiful Kyoto!
