Yes, the main buildings at Shurijo Castle have burnt down and there are efforts to clean the area up and start construction again. Although most buildings are no longer here, I feel the castle area is worth a visit. The walls are still in tact as are some structures. It will be many years before the project is complete. This castle has burnt down many times and has rebuilt so it will be fascinating again once it's up and running. You can still walk the grounds although a lot of places are currently blocked off. There are a lot of historic markers worth reading, I learned a lot. After visiting the castle, I walked the park across from it and explored the surrounding area. I feel if you are in Okinawa, might as well visit even if it is not in full swing. I went and really enjoyed my visit here.

I had a wonderful time walking through the museum. I was especially happy to see their exhibits of the past. Also they have a wonderful shop which for me has the best collection of post cards.
free parking also. wear your mask

The pottery street is within walking distance from Kokusai street but it is a totally different atmosphere. I love the tranquility and peacefulness of this place. I enjoyed taking a stroll there with the humble design and historical pottery shophouses along street. It would be perfect if there is outdoor cafe for me to indulge myself in a cup of hot latte!!

Not as big as Makishi public market and with only one or two restaurants to dine in, Tomari market offer better value in terms of price and less hard selling. Take note that if you plan to buy from the various shops do note that the wasabi and soya sauce may be limited. There are some tables at the entrance where you can stand to eat. Nothing too spectacular here other than better priced fish and this place is quite a distance away from the main streets.

Be aware that this is a very steep path and at points not clear where to go next. That stated if you are interested in Okinawan history this is a "must do" walk. I've walked this path a few times and always find something new.
As you walk along picture the past royal Okinawans walking the path and imagine what that would have been like...

Kokusaidori is a fun and touristy street in Naha. I highly recommend everyone visiting come to Kokusaidori Street. From here there are so many other streets to branch off to. Most shops here cater to tourists, you can find many souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, and other fun stores here. The street was pretty clean and well maintained. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty crowded. I recommend walking up one side and down the other and then venturing off to other streets and parts of the city.

After paying the entry fee of ¥200, we walked the round trip way. Sadly most parts of the garden were under construction which we didn’t realize until we were inside. The autumn/winter part was pretty though. The toilets are clean and free. It was quite empty for a Saturday. We’re looking forward to going again once the construction is done and all four parts of the garden are available.

Extremely good sashimi. As you can see from our platter, we had sea urchin (the best I’ve eaten in my life), octopus, fatty tuna (superb) and a huge oyster (not as creamy as my husband would like). If you make your selection from the seafood stalls and decide to eat there, they will plate it for you and carry it upstairs to your restaurant of choice (there will be an extra charge for this). You can bargain a little. At the restaurant you’ll need to order some other dishes.

Interesting to visit a local mall. Many Japanese clothing brands, a big supermarket, beauty products stores, etc.

We spend about 1.5 hours here. Bought some Japanese Clothings. There were good discounts. Dont think made in Japan though.

Bought beauty products as well. So overall a good mall to browse japanese fashion.

There was a bag, wallet concept store selling coach, anna sui, katespade, tsumori chisato wallets but i find very expensive. Example, a katespade walket costs S$400?

In another shop known as concept style, it sells shoes, clothings, belts, bags, etc but of lower quality. The slippers were made in thailand. So again, do not carry home these items if you are visiting chachuchak any time soon.

When in Japan, buy Japanese items. This is our shopping guide 101.

As this was our last evening to shop, we just buy whatever we need ala minute.

Still, a good experience to look into local products and lifestyle.

The garden is the shadow of it's own glory. It were destroyed during the war time and now rebuild. The entrance fee, compare to the maintenance cost is quite cheap. Quiet and soothing atmosphere, recommended for relaxing day.

This is an entire mall dedicated to designer cosmetics, jewelry, purses and shoes. It is connected to the monorail for easy access. Fun to walk through.

Loved walking around here and stopping in several restaurants/vendors to eat and have some drinks. The Kushiyaki is great and so were the dumplings. Hard to read some of the maps as they are only in Japanese and finding a toilet proved challenging. There are several pay parking lots in the area.

Very nice place for visiting. But is quite quiet. Nice place for photograph. Difficultly for accessing, only by walk or bus.

Its not very big but its the only beach in the city really. Sharp coral chunks along waterline. 2 highway overpasses run above it. Scuba training area very close by. There are way better places in okinawa. Stinging jellyfish in swimming area warning sign up today.
