Taikoiwa Yakushima-cho
The view is impressive and the walk up and down covers the most natural and beautiful terrain.
I've travelled a lot (see my profile) and this was one of the best views I've ever seen.
Jomonsugi Yakushima-cho
We recommend to take the front seat on the return bus if pos. it is a quite thrilling descending ride to view the valleys from the edge of the narrow road (wow! to the bus drivers) and you get to see Yaku-monkeys...
No wonder why they earned a title of UNESCO World Hesitate site.

Sengan-en Garden Kagoshima
You can also take a hike up the trail to the lookout (400m elevation and get a better panoramic view of Sakurajima and Kagoshima City - great photo op!).
We spent a day wandering in the Senganen Garden, participating in a tea ceremony, watching glass making and eating a fantastic tonkatsu lunch in a restaurant with spectacular views of Sakurajima.

Mt. Shiroyama Kagoshima
Short hike that rewards with a great view
... are shelters to take cover in don't think they would be any help if it came to the big one the views are outstanding Near to the exit there are foot baths to rest your feet but lots of local people just go and...
Yunohira Lookout Kagoshima
Excellent view of Sakurajima
This is the Kagoshima equivalent of the view in Naples from S.Elmo or Posillipo.
Kirishima Shrine Kirishima
The view from the platform is wonderful and the shrine is colourful and majestic.
The whole site is very big.
It is a very small station along a straight railway with great view.
The view to Mountain from this station woth alse the visit.
Nice view with sea and mountain.. you can actually go in to the sea if can do some rock hopping.
Great free observatory covered by a city view bus or accessible by foot (steep climb).
The best view of Kagoshima city with Sakurajima and the volcanos in the background.

Several groups of senior citizens seemed to be using their outing more as a chance to visit with their friends than as an opportunity to view some lovely gardens.
The promenade gave a good view of Sakurajima Volcano.
We picked the white one with filled in floor and enjoyed the steady rise to the top where we had a wonderful view of the mountain and the harbour and then back to earth and the nearby shops.
Great views of the city and Sakurajima island.
The tree and the shrine stand at the base of the hills, with nice paths and gardens (sakura) and a view south.
Great views and a nice spot for picnic behind the light house.
Beautiful place to view the coast!
