What travellers are saying
- EDS09Haslemere, UK293 contributionsA beautiful place to chill out and have a swim, with a few bays or a walk to choose from. Stunning natural scenery on a lovely coast line of clear waters. Highly recommended.Written 26 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- buciIstanbulUrla, Turkey160 contributionsIf you take a tour to visit the place, it is nor worth it. The beauty of the place is the view from the high hills around the lake (the views that you see when you search for the place in internet), otherwise it is just an ordinary boat trip on a lake with nothing exciting, because the tour busses cannot drive up to those points. There are much more interesting and attractive places to visit around the area.Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- L-TwineSwindon, UK5 contributionsAfter kayaking from along the river for a few days, we expected Serçin to be like the other villages we have seen: a place to buy some water, maybe have a small chat, and then move on. But arriving at in Serçin, we were greeted by Akin, who heads the local government ecotourism centre, and who was able to turn our time there into an unforgettable experience.
Within a few minutes, Akin arranged transport for us to drive around Mount Latmos, and joined us as we explored the cave paintings and villages in the area. With fluent English, Akin guided us and explained the history of the region, and then proceeded to show us the sights of Lake Bafa and the incredible bird watching.
After Latmos, we came back to Serçin to stay in a wonderful homestay run by Erol and Samsi, where we had the best dinner and breakfast we have had on the entire trip! At the homestay, we felt like family and had some great conversations about politics, religion, and life in Turkey.
The next day, Akin and Erol showed us the ruins in the region: Miletus and Priene. They were also kind enough to take our kayak on board and, after bidding farewell, they dropped us off at the river where we continued on our journey.
Words can't describe how fantastic our experience at Serçin was. In a region surrounded by either small villages with little amenities or by big and loud resort towns, Serçin felt like an oasis where we are able to experience authentic Turkish history, nature, and culture. We strongly recommend Serçin for anyone looking for a place where they can not only explore their surroundings but also where they can feel at home.
As we left we had already started planning our return!Written 22 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
