Saturday 21st September and we visited the ancient port city of Side on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast.

The remains of this Roman Temple were one of the features of City that we visited during our tour. Known as the Temple of Apollo it was built around 150 A.D., it stands on the seafront alongside the Temple of Athena. The original Temple was dedicated to Apollo, the Greek and Roman god of music, harmony and light.

The five restored columns with the partial pediment, a triangular gable, are a feature of the skyline by the coast. They were restored during the years of 1984 and 1990 with additional restoration in 2017.

As we were walking away from the Temple we stopped and looked back, as per our Guide's instructions, and we could see several carvings of Medusa's head on the gable on top of the pillars.

Caught the dolmus to Manavgat & another dolmus into Side Otogar. From there it’s a short stroll to the beginnings of the old town. I didn’t pay to go into the Amphitheatre, as I considered it overpriced at 17 euro. I’ve been to Pompeii & with all due respect, Side is second division stuff in comparison. That said, it’s still a pleasant enough compact area to walk around & worth 2-3 hours of your time. As well as the Roman Ruins, you have the beach, options for boat trips, plenty of overpriced eateries & shops & there is a nice little mosque in town, Selimiye Cami, that is also worth a look & is free to enter.

It is free to check out these ruins. There is a fee for the amphitheatre. The city build a nice walkway so that you don't get run over by the numerous cars and bus heading toward the harbor. The temple is at the end of the site near the harbor.

I am not sure why the Nymphaeum is under its own listing. It is the first ruin that you will see after going through the parking lot. Excavations and restoration of the site is ongoing.

Bridge rebuilt the 2nd time in 1998 with nice limestone slabs. Original bridge built in Roman times and some of it is still visible. Rebuilt in 13th century by the Selchuks. Impressive structure.

We took a one-day trip to Side and visited the ancient ruins. Through the gate and „Vespasianus Aniti” we saw the huge Greek Amphitheater with 25 000 seats! The ruins can be seen free and it’s worth to walk around and enjoy the special atmosphere of the past. We liked it and took lots of photos!

Side is 80kms from Antalya and it’s worth a visit. There are lots of ancient ruins in the towns, so we took a journey into the past. One of the most important ruins the Agora from the Roman times, from 2. Century before Christ. It was the scene of official events and celebrations. I think it’s an interesting place.

Have to admit I’m well travelled and this has to be the best massage package I’ve ever had.
My wife booked for a package, which included hammam, sauna, steam room and a massage. I didn’t know what to expect and was really impressed.
Ayu did the complete treatment. From start to finish Ayu was brilliant, and worked tirelessly to cater for my every need. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the spa, and returned when finished. I would highly recommend this spa to everyone, it’s not the cheapest but the package I got was worth every penny. The Bali girls work so hard but every time they meet you you’re greeted with a beautiful smile and very polite lady. Go and visit it’s amazing.

Arranged to get picked up ( free ) as we were staying in a hotel in side , picked up on time , my wife and I had a 60-minute full body massage, this was really, really good , and at 30 euros each person you can't go wrong this is a professional business that the owner said had been trading for 27 years and I say good luck to them , once our massage was over the owner ran us back to our hotel, when booking this I wots apped the owner and communication was quick , very friendly .
we would highly recommend Delphin Hammam spa and wellness go on treat yourself you will not regret it , and it will be the best euros you will spend all holiday lots of different treatments available, Thank you Delphin hammam, excellent work !!

We drank here on numerous occasions as the staff are very friendly but best of all they serve Efes in an ice cold glass - ideal as the weather in Side is hot!

I have been diving in many places worldwide. Can simply say this is a great and fun (!) dive center. As an experienced diver the whole experience was hassle-free and to the point all about getting down below in the beautiful waters. Much recommended 👌
