Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- GolakaNathMumbai, India1,515 contributionsWe visited Pobitora wildlife Sanctuary after spending 3 nights in Manas. Pobitora is closer to Guwahati but about 5.5 hours drive from Manas. We had booked the jeep safari using an website and landed up paying substantially high price. Hence, please avoid booking online unless you book from the website of the forest dept./national park. Other websites have names which will make you feel like you are booking from Govt. / National park portal but in the end you will find it is a private entity and charging you a very high price. We paid 3500 (Safari is only 1 hour) (without camera charges) against the standard price of 1800 and there are always Jeeps available on the counter at Pobitora and hence be assured of getting a Jeep if the Sanctuary Gate is open (Supply is far higher than Demand). The best thing is to request your resort to make arrangement for Jeep safari and it will be the actual cost charged by the National Park. Unlike Manas, the visitor having an SLR camera has to pay 500 per camera and you have to book at the time of booking. Please tell your resort that you are carrying an SLR camera otherwise you will be paying cash to the gypsy driver. If you have to pay cash, it will be without any receipt and the Gypsy guy is most likely to pocket the same. It happened in our case. Hence, please inform your resort to do the booking for you. Booking in advance is not at all necessary here. The demand for elephant safari (6.15AM to 7.15AM) is a bit high and hence has to be booked the previous day. Our resort (Arya near the entry gate) did the booking of elephant ride on the previous night and it was as per the Govt. rate.
In the Jeep safari (lot of dust), you can see wild buffalo, Chitals, a few Rhinos, many birds, (we missed a nightjar which was sitting on the road and went into the bush and we could not trace it). It was a pleasant ride from 3 to 4 PM. Good sighting of animals as Pobitora is a very small park unlike Manas.
The elephant ride is a must if you want to see Rhinos from close quarters. The ride was pleasant and it took us into the grazing field of Rhinos and wild buffalos. We really enjoyed our trip to the Sanctuary.Written 23 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The official cost is close to 1000 bucks but agents buy the tickets and sell them at higher price. It was my first time doing this kind of safari and it was pretty amazing. I loved the early morning nature vibes. I was able to spot one horned rhinos from very close. This Elephant Safari happens in Western Range of park which is 10-15 kms from Central Range. Central Range Kaziranga National Park Jeep Safari at Kaziranga can accommodate 5-6 people at a time and if you are less people you can go and club with other people. The total duration is of 2 hours. We were able to spot some wild birds, deers, iguana, chameleon & rhinos during the safari. Spotting wild animals like tigers and leopards depends on your luck most of the time. Cost for a jeep comes out be roughly 3000 bucks after all permits and taxes for Central Range.Written 21 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
