Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed a wonderful sleepover in the “rainforest” at Green Planet. The whole programme is so well organised to be fun and informative for every age. After checking out our tent (set out with mattresses, pillows, blanket, water and fan) we were let loose to roam the biome (along with the lemurs, sloths, rabbits and birds) to do a fun scavenger hunt. Then, we had an excellent BBQ followed by toasting marshmallows around the campfire, followed by an after dark guided tour of the biome and then the chance to hold a bearded dragon and snake. During the night, we were surrounded by the noises of the rainforest which was exciting. In the morning we prepared breakfast for the rainforest animals and delivered it to them before having a lovely breakfast ourselves.

Visitors to Dubai might be surprised to find a large number of flamingoes just 10 minutes away from Downtown but that is what can be found at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.

There are a number of hides from which to view the flamingoes - they are located very close to the birds and have interesting facts in the walls and a telescope for closer viewing.

Visits are currently restricted to 10 minutes.

Parking is available and the whole experience is free of charge.

    What you need to know:

♡ Ski Dubai provide snow clothes, socks, boots and gloves (not water resistant). I would recommend to bring warm under layers and a hat, it’s cold in there! -8C

♡ The encounter last about 15/20 min, and you are part of a small group. You get up close to Gentoo penguins - they are super cute, energetic little creatures. Then you get directed to another area where you get to meet and pet two King Penguins, the second largest species of penguins.

♡ The staff is friendly and knowledgeable sharing some fun facts about the aquatic birds.

♡ The penguins looked really well taken care off. The staff seemed really caring and attentive.

♡ The work of the team behind the attraction helps develop knowledge and education about the specie and the programme drives research on a global scale. While I absolutely enjoyed the experience, I also had to bring up the issue of animal in captivity and human interaction with wild animal to my children. It’s a touchy subject and it raises ethical questions. The first part of the experience include watching a video explaining that the “attraction” has been created with behaviourist and conservationists specials. They are actually part of a conservation breeding programme.

♡ No camera allowed but the photographer is great, making sure to capture some cool family shots. It’s an extra cost, so for the price of the attraction, I think a photo should be included as part of the package.

♡ It’s pricey, so make sure to look for special deals.

A short distance past Mirdif, near Dubai Safari Park, this park is a lovely large getaway from the city and full of wildlife.

There is a cycle track around the circumference of the park, lots of play parks, horse rides, a swimming pool, childrens’ rides and some miniature buildings to represent various places from around the world. One could easily pass a few hours in the park.

There are restaurants and snack shops within the park.

For just 10 dirhams admission per car, it’s well worth the drive out.

The staff of the turtle rehabilitation project is really responsive. I wasn't sure the ponds were open during Covid. I sent staff a message on their facebook page and they responded immediately, really impressive for a free attraction. The project has now reopened.
The turtle pools are located behind Jumeirah Nasseem hotel, between the Black Tab restaurant and the beach. It's free to enter but may be a little tricky to find. We approached from the beach and saw some signs along the boardwalk but didn't notice any directions from the hotel side.
We only observed one large turtle (maybe it wasn't the right time of the year?) but it was a beautiful animal to see.
If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend taking a few moments to go. During Covid, feeding has been suspended.
