What travellers are saying
- alanlidOxford, UK279 contributionsGetting around Lima can be quite a nightmare, since there is no metro (subway) system, the (car) traffic has mushroomed in recent years and the infrastructure can't cope. The result is endless jams, delays, contamination and - especially in the crowded Centro histórico, where the streets are cramped - constant blaring of horns (despite the frequent signs saying that drivers will be fined for gratuitous use of the klaxon). Taxis are common and quite cheap - but they add to the problem, are often slow (because of the traffic - the drivers are anything. but slow!) and of course, visitors can be leery of picking up a taxi at random. The Metropolitano bus service is a major step in the right direction and provides fast, cheap, public transport on a designated route (track), avoiding the traffic. Plastic cards are loaded with credit (each trip costs 2.5 soles - about 0.75c US). We got from Mirafores to (near) the Centro Histórico (Plaza de Armas), a distance of some 10kms - in about 15-20 mins; a taxi might have taken twice as long. Unfortunately, the system is still very limited in scope, but if you stay - as we did, in Miraflores, there are stations close by that take you north into town. Destinations are flashed up on a screen, so it's easy to know when to get off.. One major caveat: on the way into town (about 10am on a Saturday), there was plenty of room on the bus; coming back about 3 hours later it was jammed full - which means getting on and off involves some scrimmaging. Not fo the faint-hearted. But if you choose your times (e..g, avoid rush hour!) it's a good service.Written 8 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- rbbrnoBrno, Czech Republic9,522 contributionsFast, reliable way to reach old town from Cruz del Sur station ("Estacion La Cultura") in case you are picking up bus tickets and you want visit Lima center. Plaza de Armas is about 3 kilometres far from the station "Presbítero Maestro". This part of Lima doesnt look exquisite, it has some nice churches, parks and is safe during the day in case you are not displaying expensive watches etc.Written 4 October 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- daipopCardiff, UK79 contributionsRealised a lifetime ambition with this “Bucket List “ trip visiting the best of Cuzco & “Sexywoman” fortress ( easier to pronounce it this way than spell it sorry) from our stay in the Monasterio hotel followed by the Hiram Bingham ( the Orient Express of the Andes) train ride to Ollantiyambo then the breathtaking bus ride up the precipitous mountain trail to Machu Pichu! This Seventh Wonder of The World Site must be seen to be believed & words cannot describe the experience . Built with massive stone blocks using the crudest of stone tools purely by hand this Summer Palace of the Inca Kings set atop a mountain overlooking the Amazon Rainforest defies the imagination. Be prepared for a hard trek around the site which will leave you exhausted both mentally & physically but retaining a warm sense of achievement .Glorious!!Written 19 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Brendan T1 contributionI used Taxidatum in Lima and Cusco.
I originally found them on a Tripadvisor comment when I was looking for Peru transfer services and saw Taxidatum mentioned a lot.
The service was prompt, flexible and responsive!
When I arrived at Lima, the driver was already waiting for me and I had also received an email about the driver waiting for me.
When a driver was slightly late, contacting them was very easy and they resolved the situation on the spot.
The return pickup service to Lima and Cusco airports were also prompt.
Would highly recommend using them for transfer services - makes it much easier than using Taxis off the street.
I do plan to return to Peru and I will be using them again,Written 16 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Carl l2 contributionsFantastic service, our driver was very polite and professional, I’ll definitely be using this service again.Written 1 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Stephen SEl Sobrante, CA3 contributionsWe had two days available in Lima and booked Martin for a one day tour of Lima.
He is amazing. He took us to the pyramids of Lima and the Larco museum.
He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time.
You can’t go wrong with Martin and his company.Written 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - jacworldtravelerSeattle, WA19 contributionsWent exactly as expected. I had to change the time of my pick up and had no issues doing so. Got email confirmation of new time. The pickup location is fairly easy to find, despite absolutely no signage inside or outside the airport. Actually nothing indicating they are there except for the purple van in the lot behind the hotel, so make sure you carefully read the instructions on your booking. Driver(s) were not par particularly professional - seemed to be a guy and his girlfriend or something. But, they offered the free WiFi code and got me to my destination ahead of schedule. Would use again.Written 12 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DanielleelizabethbaiLima, Peru4 contributionsI have taken this bus several times and love it even more each time I take it. For someone that goes to the airport often and has done everything from vans to taxis and ubers to this bus, by far the safest and most convenient is the Airport Express Lima.
WiFi, air conditioning, and charging ports. And sooo much cheaper than a taxi.Written 13 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Justin WRustington, UK311 contributionsExcellent and reliable service. These guys accommodated my ever changing itinerary whilst in Lima without any issues. Communication was brilliant and I felt totally confident that they would be there when they said they would - even providing updates via WhatsApp. As a business traveller reliability is very important and this team were spot on, thank you. Fairly priced and never had any expectations from me. Great service. I will share their details with my company (we travel here a lot). Thank you.Written 24 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- D Daniel3 contributionsPeruvian Shuttle (Lima) was the most professional business we dealt with during our 3 weeks in Peru. If Peruvian Shuttle ever gets into the tour business and applies this level of behavior and performance to running tours, I think that some other tour companies will be in big trouble because these guys know what customer service is.
We were warned (by a Peruvian tour guide) that nothing will be on time in Peru (which his company demonstrated to us by constantly being late). So for most companies, we lowered our expectations - BUT Peruvian shuttle was different, and a dream transportation company.
Here is what we got:
- On time. Waiting for us with a clear sign with our name on - we used them 3 times during our visit. Always on time.
- Vehicle was newer, immaculate condition, had working AC.
- Van was sized properly for the 4 of us will lots of luggage. (No stuffing 4 people into a small taxi with way too much luggage on your lap, no AC, and windows that don't open - yes this happened to us on this trip with two other companies)
- Driver was clean cut, in suit, polite, and spoke English.
- He met us at the arrival spot at airport, gave clear directions to us, then paid for parking and helped load bags.
- Driving was excellent (not the crazy taxi kind) - he slowed down for speed bumps and holes in road, reasonable speed, and was polite to other drivers (no cutting people off or driving on curbs to get around).
- Knew where he was going, asked us if AC was too cold (nice touch)
- Told us something about where we were.
A calming and pleasant experience.
Other companies should look at their behavior as a model for how to treat customers. Just Awesome.Written 14 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mylène G2 contributionsGood morning Diego, we are so happy about this 3 DAYS HIKE IN LARES TRAIL. This was one of the best experience in our lives!!
Our guide Hebert was amazing! He was very patient, knowledgable and passionnate about his work. Juan and Nico are very special people and we will never forget them. The meals were so good and prepared with love by Juan. We were very touched and priviledged that we could go and visit Juan's house. We will never forget this trip and we will not hesitate to recommend it to our friends and familly.
