My partner and I did a weekend hike in the rice terraces outside of Banaue. In the lead up to our trip, Uncharted Philippines was very helpful and responsive and we felt very well prepared for the journey.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the overnight bus ride to reach Banaue from Manila is tough going, but that is out of the control of Uncharted Philippines. Our guide Jody met our bus in Banaue and took us to a local inn, where we had a good breakfast and left our suitcases before heading off.

The rice terraces are incredibly beautiful and Jody, a local of the area, gave us some really interesting insights into the farmers' way of life. My partner and I are both reasonably fit and still found the hike itself quite challenging, but ultimately very worthwhile.

An amazing trip to North Luzon with Yolo Travel!

We contacted Yolo to arrange a tour of North Luzon’s rice terraces and surrounding area. The remit was broad, only that it was for two people and should be 6/7 days. Paulo at Yolo was amazing. He very quickly proposed an itinerary which covered all the parts we wanted (including some we had never heard of), as well as advising on the best times to visit and what to bring.

Our tour covered Banaue and the surrounding areas (Batad, Hapao, Tapiya Falls) before moving on to Sagada (Sumaging and Lumiang Caves, surrounding waterfalls, Blue soil and Hanging Coffins).

Yolo arranged all the transport, guides and accommodation, making this a very stress-free trip. We did a private tour for two people, meaning that everything was done at our pace, which was especially appreciated after a few days walking the rice terraces! We had separate guides for Banaue (Abner and Mulin) and Sagada (Rex), all of whom were local and very knowledgeable on the area and local culture and customs, couldn’t recommend them enough.

We had amazing time and will definitely be using Yolo again for future trips, thank you!

Thank you so much to JP for being such an incredible tour guide in Banaue and Batad!

Tour guide isn't even the right word to describe the level of impeccable service and warm welcome he gave my family and I during our time with him.

It was the reviews on TripAdvisor and on Facebook that encouraged me to book our private guided tour with JP and it's something my parents and I will talk about now for the rest of time.

We had such an amazing experience not only hiking the terraces themselves but we had great conversation throughout our trip and constant encouragement from JP for those of us (aka me!) who felt incredibly unfit during the hike.

Regardless, we made it through and it was more than worth it. It was really the experience of a lifetime and I would encourage anyone to book a tour with Vagabond Pinas and JP.

JP planned everything perfectly and made sure we felt comfortable, safe and had the best time!

I know myself and my family will be back as soon as possible! Thank you so much JP for everything! Maraming salamat po! ❤️

We loved our trip to the mountains (Sagada, Banaue and Batad) and couldn’t wish for a better start for our trip. These cities were a must see and it was definitely worth the hike. We saw the most beautiful landscapes in the mountains with rice terraces and waterfalls. Above all, the team was great : really nice persons that make sure everything is always alright for you and that you are enjoying your time. We are very happy to have met JP ! We discovered the local culture, local food ... We learned a lot about the Philippines and the people there. We will surely contact Vagabondpinas for our next time in the Philippines !!

What an amazing experience to get to trek for 3 days around Banaue in the rice terraces. From spectacular views to long nature-filled walks it's definitely an experience to remember. We got Jercy Cabbigat as a guide, who was recommended by some of our friends, and we do recommend him as well. You can contact him on through Facebook Messenger. He's thoughtful and patient, he always told us when to be more careful all of which really helped because it's not an easy trek. Most importantly he's great company and he knows the place. So he told us jokes (in several languages) and a lot about the history, the region, the people and the culture. At night after tiring but great days we stayed in local villages (Cambulo and Batad) to get some rest and meet some of the people before moving the next day. Through it all Jercy was here, organising everything and making sure we were having a great time. Do go to Banaue and do contact Jercy you'll love it.
