Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Welcome, witches, ghouls, and creatures of the night, to the most spooktacular Halloween extravaganza in the heart of Hong Kong! As the moon rises high in the darkened sky, casting its eerie glow upon the bustling streets, here transforms into a hauntingly vibrant playground, beckoning all brave souls to join in the wicked festivities.

At first, this is just a mall and a rather expensive one at that. No need to come here for shopping. However, there are two "secret" tips that you shouldn't miss out on, if you decide to visit the mall.
    1) Visit the roof top garden, it's very nice and a perfect place to relax on your way through the city. One way to access it is by Shake Shack.
    2) In IFC 2 tower, accessible through the lobby, you can get access to the Monetary Authority on 55th floor. They have a little museum on Hong Kong money and of course a stunning view. The best thing: a visit is free! Just bring a photo ID for the visitor's pass.

Our family of two adults, a 9 year old and a 6 year old visited Hong Kong during the busy Chinese New Year holidays.

We took the Star Ferry (see my separate review) from Kowloon where we were staying to Central pier and walked to the Mid level escalators en route to lunch at Mak's Noodles on Wellington Street.

The escalators are unique and though we just took one journey up to Wellington Street, the kids were amazed by an outdoor escalator. It was a welcome alternative to the steps for young children with tired legs! Enjoy.

The famous ferris wheel of Hong Kong waterfront. The wheel is one of the best venue to view Hong Kong island and its skyscrapers from high ground. The queue can be long because the wheel moves slowly but the patience spent queuing is rewarding.

A peaceful place to visit and reflect. It's significant as the only piece of free land in Hong Kong.

Impressive building and one of the key landmarks in HK which also contains a large shopping mall primarily full of all the top brand names you would expect.

It is definately worth visiting this impressive building, you can literally walk through/underneath it and look up into the building. You can ride the elevator up to the 1st floor where there are ATMs. I was really looking forward to seeing the two bronze lions Stephen and Stitt, but unfortunately they were 'boxed up' due to damages.

Sbakery by Mama Soo sort of showed up out of nowhere a couple years back and is now our favourite place in the city for thick, creamy NYC style cheesecake slices that have the perfect texture, sweet and sour creaminess and taste along with graham cracker like crust.

They have operated pop-up stalls in several higher end shopping malls around the city in recent years until opening up their first flagship bakery shop on Tai Ping Shan Road last year. Recently, they opened up a pop-up on the 3/F of the Landmark Atrium, providing those in Central opportunity to purchase their various cheesecake slices to enjoy back in their home or area hotels. Opening hour for his Sbakery stall are 11am to 7pm (weekdays) and 11am to 6pm (weekends).

Slices are pricy at HK$98 each but the portion sizes are large and the quality consistently very, very good. We like the original cheesecake just fine and are particularly fond of the Banoffee Cheesecake which has delicious banana and bit of caramel on top. There are seasonal cheesecake variations as well. You can see all on the Sbakery by Mama Soo website or just check out what is available on the day at their new place at Landmark Atrium.

Aberdeen Harbour is on the south side of Hong Kong Island. The harbor is known as "Little Hong Kong" by the locals. Until recently, it provided moorings for fishing boats, now there seem to be more luxury yachts than fishing boats. If you want to see Aberdeen Harbour, you can hire a waterman to row you around for a small fee. By the way, until recently Aberdeen hosted a Hong Kong icon, the massive Jumbo Floating Restaurant. Unfortunately, on its way to a new and potentially more profitable berth in Cambodia, it capsized and appears to have sunk.

The view is spectacular, and the displays about Hong Kong currency and monetary system are more interesting that you might think! Finding the place to sign-in was a mission though. We had instructions from a travel blog to enter the mall and go down two levels. Not quite. Go into the IFC 2 lobby from the mall and there is a sign at the desk there to go downstairs. The escalator is to the right and around the corner. At the bottom of the escalator, do not go to the desk that you see first. Turn right and go to the HKMA's dedicated desk where they will check ID and sign you in.

Dropping by Central and having nice stroll along the various street has always been a ritual for us whenever we dropped by HK. Exploring the F&B outlets and the various unique Landmark always make one appreciate the culture & history of the area much more. It was Pottinger Street recently we spent much time on in the recent trip. The street was originally on the slope between Queen's Road Central and Hollywood Road but it has since “expanded” from the junction of Hollywood Road in Central to part of Connaught Road. The historic small street is made of large stone slabs, the high and low stone paved road is so famous that the commonly used Chinese name of Pottinger Street translates as “Stone Slab Street”!
Not too much of a challenge for most even if the street is paved unevenly by granite stone steps, but best be equipped with comfy shoes definitely help. and is a popular venue for photo shoots and movie scenes. The iconic street are lined on both sides with many old shops and stalls and throngs of tourists and passers-by like to explore. Several of the shops here are still the old wooden kiosks, selling mainly souvenirs and fancy-dress costumes, making this a favorite spot for Halloween shopping. The offering of outrageous outfits and popular masks make it to visit for any occasion.
The plus-point is that the street is smack in Central so one can pair it with a watering session at LKF or even food therapy at the various F&B nearby

…despite the obvious difficulty of the incline and the steady gentrification all around. Whenever I walk down here, it’s always great to see it it still being used and the fruit and veg, for example, is similarly priced to markets I’ve been to in North Point, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay so you’ll pay a LOT less than in a supermarket.

The HK City Hall is fairly large complex with lowrise with concert hall and surprisingly rich and good programme of concerts, and a 11/12 story highrise with a nice exhibition space on the 7th floor and a public library, both for aduts and for children. There are numerous temporary exhibits - on the afternoon I visited there was a very pleasant show of landscape and fauna ink scroll paintings by three local artists.... During weekdays, the place is busy with wedding groups as the Marriage Registry is in the same building.....

…means a high rating from me, even if you cannot actually do much inside! HK has torn down nearly all of its old buildings so to have this still standing to admire is great!

Looking for tambayan and shops - The Center. Where Filipino folks are around too, if you need assistance just approach them and they'll help you. Market yeah like pasalubong just roam around. It's between those big buildings with those high end bags and clothes.
