Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As good as it gets. We reached out to Gil to help with transportation to the train station. We were a large group with 2 people in wheelchairs. The driver was super polite, helpful and timely. The van was luxurious and clean. This is true professionalism.

The airport in Tel Aviv is so over crowded, that the money we spent on this fast track service was worth every penny

We had used Noam on our last trip to Israel as a couple, So when we decided to make a return trip to Israel ,we immediately got in touch with him again. We knew he would be the perfect guide to help us create a special memory for our family, as we were celebrating a special anniversary.

We were a family of 6, four of whom were adult children. Despite the different age groups and the fact that all of us had visited Israel at least once, Noam was very responsive to our requests to help plan our trip. He proposed a couple itineraries that would meet our varied interests, and he crafted a perfect itinerary that would be interesting and new for all of us.

On a personal level, Noam is a great conversationalist, interesting, funny, warm, upbeat, open, and very willing to share personal experiences. He has a wealth of knowledge about Israeli history and culture.

We give Noam our highest possible recommendation! A fantastic tour guide!

I had to drink a second glass of the best orange juice that I had had in a long time! And it felt all the more better after our wonderful dip in the Dead Sea, thanks to Freddy, who is Moshe Barak's associate.

This is a review of Moshe Barak's service that helped us visit Masada, Dead Sea and the Tunnel tours. Short answer is that it was a memorable trip and I wish we had booked his services to see more of Israel.

I read about Moshe Barak on Trip Advisor, and decided to email him; looking at my emails, we exchanged 60 emails. In addition to replying quickly, Moshe gave me a lot of info that helped me plan our trip. For instance, (a) that we had to book in advance and online for the Tunnel Tours or (b) that there was no convenient bus stop near the Dead Sea resorts on the bus from Eilat.

I finally decided that we would book his services for a trip from Tel Aviv to Masada, Dead Sea and the Tunnel Tours in Jerusalem, and back to Tel Aviv. Since Moshe was with another client on the requested day, his associate Freddy drove us in a Ford Minivan.

We left Tel Aviv by around 0700 and reached Masada by about 10am. I had planned for about 2 hours at Masada and Dead Sea, and hoped to be back in Jerusalem well before 6PM. It was a hot day and the walk on the Masada fort was a tiring one; we explored the place on our own, although I would recommend a guide. We then drove to Dead Sea, and I thought we would be in and out in 30 mins after dipping our feet!

Two aspects that I had read about and thought would be problem turned out to be relatively exaggerated. (1) Recommendation to use shoes or sandals while entering the water due to sharp stones under water. Hence, we carried an extra pair, but found that it wasn't too difficult to walk barefoot and decided not to wet our footwear. And every other tourist around us managed fine without special footwear. (2) Recommendation to carry fresh bottled water as protection against salt water getting into the eyes. In our group, my father first experienced the stinging and I walked him to the shore; before I could find bottled/fresh water, the stinging reduced and he returned to float! I couldn't resist the temptation to experience the level of stinging, and lunged into the water as if it were a pool, and my eyes were stinging! But it vanished after a couple of minutes, and I was back to floating. And wishing we didn't have to leave soon!

I had initially made reservations at one of the resorts for access to their private beach followed by lunch; but learned a couple of days earlier that swimsuits were mandatory for access to the beaches, and hence dropped going to the resort.

We used the public access area to the Dead Sea, and boy, once we got in, I wish we had planned to spend atleast a day and not 30mins!! We ended up relaxing & floating in the water for more than an hour. And after a quick shower (open access), we changed and headed to the shopping area, where we found this place serving delicious orange juice.

We managed to leave the Dead Sea area by about 4PM, and based on Google Maps, it looked like we wouldn't reach before 6PM, which was the scheduled start of the Tunnel tour that I had booked. And then Freddy drove us through roads that weren't on the map (!!) and got us to the Western Wall entrance by 6PM; we made it as the tour was getting started.

The Tunnel Tour begins with a video on the history of the Temple, and then there is a walk through the tunnels. And this provided us a useful overview. And unlike a tour bus, Freddy found parking close to the exit gates and that helped reduce our walking after a long day. We returned to Tel Aviv by around 8PM, and overall a great trip of 13 hours!

Thank you Moshe Barak & Freddy.

I booked this company for my son travelling on his own. He was so pleased with the company and said the driver was really nice even though he was delayed waiting for his luggage.

I had a fantastic 2-day private tour with Avner. Day-1 Tel Aviv, Day-2 Jerusalem. Avner made the tours interesting and fun. I saw things off the beaten path that only a local would think to show. He is knowledgeable about the history of Israel and is interesting to listen to. I definitely recommend him for any tour.

  • PROS
    * Efficient and necessary means of transportation
    * Usually runs close to on-time- reasonably reliable
    * The website and application give good information, including all information regarding the train schedule- arrival time, train number, track/platform numers
    * The application can notify you of arrival at your destination
    • Mostly modern carriages
    • Usually clean and shiny carriages (at the start of the day)
    • Many bright red double deckers, but also other rolling stock
    • USB ports available- look above the seat
    • Parts of some routes are scenic
    • Access to all coastal cities and also Jerusalem and other non coastal cities
    • Direct non-stop access from airport to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem
    • New high speed from airport to Jerusalem
    * The route from Binyamina and the approach to Haifa and further to Acco and Nahariya goes along the Mediterranean coast- that is quite scenic
    * Signs and announcements also in English
    * An opportunity for people watching (see my many "helpful" candid photos of other passengers

    CONS
    • Can be quite crowded and noisy, especially during rush hours including much of the day, but especially Sunday mornings- many people in a hurry
    * Hardly any trash cans or trash bags
    • Stations not near tourist attractions except for maybe Tel Aviv- University, Haifa, Acco and Nahariya
    • Some stations are so so busy & unattractive- functional at best
    * Inside Tel Aviv city stations (Hagana, HaShalom and Savidor-Arlozoroff) can be polluting with toxic fumes and exhaust
    * The stations can of course be noisy
    * Some of the routes are through quite unattractive unscenic areas
    • Often delays for construction, repairs and improvements
    • No service on Sabbath and Jewish holidays from sundown the day before
    * USB ports on top so that the cord must be long and it then hangs from the ceiling of the carriage
    * The payment system in outdated and behind the times (see below)- why can't it be like major cities such as DC, NYC, London, Paris

    • One must buy a ticket from the information desk OR have a multi-use “RavKav” (multi line) card, and even then- go to the machine and load it with the final destination location even before being allowed to enter the waiting and access areas.

    "I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I needed to go to a business meeting in Tel Aviv. I traveled starting at ke 0830 and the train was quite relatively empty. One the return towards 1600, there was nary a seat, and people were standing.

Hey- this time, it was functional for me, but eh- I love the trains and train travel, and I'm always eager to ride one- to just about anywhere because I just about always enjoy the experience… except when it is very crowded… such as Sunday mornings for us here.

    TIPS
    • Avoid busy times- be prepared for crowds during all daylight hours
    • Avoid Sunday mornings (and Fridays)
    • Have and use a “RavKav” card- see my "helpful photo of the machine: load and insert your card into the slot (not at all intuitive) and then type and choose what you want to do- where you want to go, and agree to the purchase (deduction from the balance on the card). You must tap in and also tap out
