Shah-i-Zinda Samarkand
For those wanting to explore further, there is a path up to the cemetery on the adjacent hills overlooking the entire complex - it also has good views to the giant Bibi Khanym Mosque.
The Bibi-Khanum Mosque, the Regestan with its three Madrassahs, the mausoleums at the Shah-i-Zinda, the ancient site at the Afrasiyab with its ancient wall frescoes all make for a spectacular few days of discovery...
Registan Samarkand
This site has been lovingly restored to its glory, and it is worth visiting for enough time to linger, and to return in early morning or evening, when they are lit up.
Impressive by its size alone, this is complemented by the details & opulence of the three separate buildings and superseded by the view on the full set.
Itchan Kala Khiva
You will need close to a full day to see the sites and it will be a day well spent - the sites are stunning and the history amazing.
Well if like me you love the silk road this place is a must see a world heritage site with much to see and do make sure you visit all the gates as this will give you an idea of the domestic side of life also visit...
Gur Emir Mausoleum Samarkand
This amazing religious building mausoleum and Madrassah built by Timurlane for his favourite grand son is just a beautiful piece of art as well as a very important historical landmark
Situated a little further from the other monuments this historical site has the most beautiful entrance arches and dome which is really beautiful to view at night when illuminated.
The photogenic site might distract you from listening more carefully to the guides narration about its rich and equally colourful history of the place!
Must see! Truly amazing to view in person.
Ulugbek Madrasah Samarkand
You will need about 45 minutes here and I hope your guide is as good as ours who gave us fantastic information on this site and then good time to exploar.
Astonishing night view
You canclimb the adjoining minaret for a wonderful view.
My favorite site in Khiva..shadowy and sacred
This spectacular fortress is right next to the Tourist Office near an entrance to the walled city of Old Khiova, and is often the first site tourists encounter.
Going before a sunset is the best time to visit this place as it wont be too hot and the view is breathtaking.
The Madrasah is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and one of the must see sights in Bukhara.
An enormous building, with pretty blue domes - photo opportunities in this site are amazing.
The Poi Kalyan Mosque built on the site of the original mosque which was Gengis Khan was able at the time of it's building to house the entire male population of Bukhara the when you enter you get a real sense of...
The views are just amazing.
... the place, and you are busy looking at the craftsmen and the funny furry hats and all the other wonderful sites and scenes in this colourful you realised that you've just walked past this icon without realising.
There are a few cafes around that you can sit at and relax and enjoy the views of the impressive complex.
Sher Dor Madrasah Samarkand
I strongly suggest you have a guide who will give you lots of good information on these amazing sites.
I totally appreciated it so you can also enjoy the view without all people and still have an option to take photos.
place nice architect To my view its is must when you visit Bukhara do visit inside alsoIts is really for archiectul and history lovers
Definitely the center and a must site to visit which is important to the politics and trade to this ancient city that had controlled the silk road for a considerable period of time.
The site has two sections accessed by different entrances, make sure you visit both!
It's within walking distance to all the important sites in Bukhara so this is worth a stop.
The architecture and history of this site is very interesting.
Bibi Khanym Mosque Samarkand
Well worth visiting along with all the other amazing sights in Samarkand.
Impressive Site & Mix of Restored and Unrestored; Visit Syab Bazaar next door
Feel the spirit of the fortress and view masterpiece of tilework of local craftsmanship.
Beyond the asthetics the mausoleum is a site of pilgrimage with a Iman who recites a verse of the Koran when requested by a pilgrim.
Lyab-i-Hauz Bukhara
This is the heart of the city and as such a great place to strong visit historical and religious landmarks and buying some very interesting souvenirs

Chor-Minor Bukhara
Located in the middle of an unassuming neighborhood, it allows visitors to climb up to a humble view of the neighbourhood.
One of the iconic sights of Bukhara, the experience of which is only enhanced by its discovery - it's hidden away in rambling side streets ten minutes out of the centre.
On a nice clear day it is a lovely place for a walk and relaxation with wonderful sights to see.
Very quiet and beautiful place with many trees and some sights.
1 Way to experience it
