Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I read some previous derogatory comments about the cleanliness of the beach and yes, sometimes there are irresponsible people who litter, and crap does get washed up, it is the South China sea with a vast population on its perimeters.
There is a community within Brunei that regularly tidy the beach, which is a great place for surfing, swimming (watch those rips further out) and fishing.
Ignore the negativity and check out for yourself.

This place is just breathtaking. I was immediately awed by its beauty when I first arrived here. Its a nice place for a walk, bike and fish.

Tanjong Batu meaning Rock Headland got its name because of its unique rock formations.

The calming sea breeze, hypnotic view and sound of waves crashing against the rocks and long sandy beaches of Tanjong Batu surely is the attraction here.

If you are looking for a little piece of tranquillity, then this is the destination that you should head to.

Nearby is beautiful Meragang beach, which is known as one of the rare turtle nesting areas in the country.

For the sunset, I assured you that the view is undeniably captivating as the sun slowly disappears below the horizon.

There are ample carparks available for visitors.

    Surely I will return again.

At the northern tip of Brunei - about a 30 minute drive from centre BSB outside peak hour - you'll find this beach with accompanying carpark, gardens, lawns, childrens playground, covered BBQ areas and toilet facilities that'd make for a relaxing cookup, picnic and swim.
We got there early afternoon on a Thursday and had the facilities mostly to ourselves- though weekends may be busier.
There is a rip warning notice for those looking to swim - so make sure you familiarize yourself with the water hazards before taking the plunge.
One sour note - we did find some plastic litter on the beach notwithstanding the numerous bins around and the notices prohibiting littering.
All in all though, we enjoyed our half-day spent at Muara Beach - though next time we'd make it in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat.

Popular hang out for families. People like to go there to picnic. There is adequate parking and clean toilet facilities. Lots of people selling snacks and drinks from fixed locations. No beach vendors to hassle you.

Undisturbed, tranquil and picturesque sandy beach that is naturally beautiful! Watching the sunset here is an unforgettable experience.

I love this beach! I hope the government will preserve the beach and let it remain undisturbed with minimal development for many years to come.

Nearby is the Marine Biodiversity Centre, which is the centre for the conservation of marine life; especially sea turtles, usually found ashore to lay eggs at the beach.

This beach is located at about 22km north of BSB.
