Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina64,689 contributionsI walked the streets of Bangkok’s Chinatown when the Lunar New Year celebrations were underway. Some of the side-streets, were jammed with a mix of locals and sightseers. In many ways, it is a typical overseas Chinatown. Well worth visiting for sightseeing and shopping for interesting inexpensive gadgets and knockoffs of expensive goods.Written 25 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 801narimanaDubai, United Arab Emirates57 contributionsA mini Bangla Road of Phuket if you like that kind of vibes you will like it. A small road though. They also serve fried scorpions :)Written 18 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert DSunderland, UK7 contributionsExcellent, lively place to visit with many places for food, drink and shopping. There are a number of good hotels either here or nearby.Written 14 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand3,264 contributionsBelieve it or not, after living in Thailand for more than 25 years, I had never visited Soi Cowboy until recently. I'd been to Nana Plaza and Patpong several times, but never Cowboy. Finding myself spending a few days in the Sukhumvit area, I decided to drop by. Can't say as I feel like I've been missing anything for the past quarter century. The bars run the expected gamut from low-key, casual drinking holes to loud and flashy club-type places with swarms of scantily-clad girls. Among the set, are some that reportedly specialize in intimidating and cheating customers (although I didn't experience such).
Overall, I found the entire strip rather dull. Poking into a couple of the places with the best reputation, I found them to be on the expensive side and somewhat boring. Too many of the girls were overly-tattooed, excessively breast-implanted, and generally less attractive than I would expect (perhaps I'm just getting old?). On the positive side, none of the places I visited were aggressive about buying lady's drinks.
A few words of advice for visiting Soi Cowboy (and the other two similar entertainment areas in Bangkok for that matter):
1. Check out online the experiences of other customers and avoid places with definite reputations for scamming customers (there actually are establishments with good reputations for not cheating customers).
2. Pay for your drinks as you order them to avoid later disagreements over billing.
3. Count your change.
4. Be very clear what you are ordering in terms of lady's drinks (number, type, price).
5. Avoid back-room shows as they're frequent modalities for scams and overpricing (and not that interesting in any case).
6. Refrain from loud and obnoxious behavior; be respectful to staff and dancers.Written 21 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of changes after Covid, but a great atmosphere, good street food options & nightlife.Written 14 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hendri WJakarta, Indonesia9 contributionsI used to live near RCA Area, so every weekend I normally hang out around that area. We normally start the night with light drinking in Paul Panich, and as time goes by go to the clubs like Route 66 or Onyx.Written 3 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,483 contributionsAn ordinary Thai neighborhood which centers around the square with King Taksin monument and the Wongwian BTS station. Here life goes on, as if tourism still has to be invented. No business geared to westerners, a relief after Khao San in Banglamphu and even Silom and Sukumvit. Go to Wongwian market early in the morning, pass by the old Wongwian railway station, join the joggers around Taksin monument or just observe ordinary Thai city life.Written 31 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
