Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First off the South course is so incredibly beautiful. My husband kept saying how it was better than Pebble Beach. The Lava hazards make it such a unique course that you won’t find anywhere else. Only issue we had is that for some reason the restaurants at the golf courses have been closed and the food trucks aren’t very timely. We didn’t get any food or drinks until hole 14 which was very irritating but the views made up for it and the staff were all lovely!

This is an incredibly beautiful Golf Course that is quite challenging! It is a slower pace of play, as my husband plays and I road, and it took us 4 1/2 hours to finish.

We were there in April 2021 but the app did not have that options. This was our first family (young adults not teens) trip taking a plane after covid hit. We had newly renovated rooms. Rooms were luxurious, nicely decorated and comfortable. We loved the fact that they had laundry facilities (perfect when you are tgere for a week ir more, which was our case). The grounds were beautiful. The spa was fabulous. Indoor/outdoor gym facility and great gym pool there as well. Massages were terrific. We also took golf lessons and the course was beautiful. Tennis facilities great as well. Food was lovely but we also enjoyed dining outside the resort ( Canoe House is a must as well as the restaurant and the beach of the Mauna Kea). Would love to stay there again the next time we go to the Big Island ( if we can manage to snag a reservation!)

Fun course you can play at a value compared to the resort courses. Challenging course with some really good holes including a drivable par 4 and a TPC Sawgrass replica hole. Dont come out and expect the lush resort conditions, that's not what you get here but you also get to play for under $100. The greens were in really good shape. My only complaint was they didnt put any ice in your cooler. They give you 2 waters but no ice. Would certainly recommend to someone who is looking to save a few bucks and play something away from the resorts (but only 30 minutes away).

I paid $120, and my wife rode with me; the cart was clean and fresh; the greens rolled great, better than the resort courses; neatly trimmed fairways; the restaurant serves good sandwiches. Super empty late morning always a plus.

An absolutely beautiful golf course. Some of the holes go right down to the ocean. This is not an easy course with rolling hills and long par 4’s. But the views make it all worthwhile. No 5* rating because of the rental clubs. We rented clubs and they were a bit of a disappointment. Very worn Taylormade.
The staff was courteous. If you play golf on Hawai’i this is a must do because of the vistas.

We only played 9 holes, which was enough for me; I like golf, but there is so much more to do in Hawaii. The Beach 9 Course has some amazing view on a couple of the holes, but for the premium they are charging to play these courses, I would have expected the fairways, etc. to be in better shape.

Now that this is the King’s Nine, it’s more fun because there are three nine-hole golf courses that can be played by themselves or in multiple combinations. This time I played the “Kings-Lakes” 18. The greens are nice and fast (due to constant winds drying them out; the key is hitting the ball straight ( when is that not the key!?), especially with how narrow the fairways are, with extreme penalties (lava, lava, lava) if you don’t keep it primarily in the short grass. The carts need gps to improve distance identification. The Bay Club sells discounted vouchers, if you stay there. The staff are awesome, especially the cart guys and the starter; and you’re in Hawaii, so what could be better?

It might not be architecturally the best course on the island, but it is one of the most enjoyable. It is situated on the hillside and offers remarkable ocean views from every hole. The par fives are excellent and the par fours challenging.

Higher up than the Golf Courses along the shore line this Golf Course is special. You get a Golf Cart to get to it and the drive up is a rip-roaring adventure through the Hawaiian Jungle. It was so much fun! The carts are not electric and getting a little old and we did not see a restaurant, but as far as the Golf it was indeed a Hawaiian experience!

After being closed for years it is great to have it open again. It is a good course, nothing fancy but nice to golf. By no means is it like the high end resort courses on the Kona side of the island but it is a nice to play and enjoy it’s location.

The very best golf in Hawaii - South Course has a few more holes along the ocean than the North Course - the latter being a bit harder also. Perfect resort golf - even better run since Troon took over the management about a year ago. Great bar and restaurant that also has view of the ocean.

This country club was an excellent local place to golf. It is 9 holes, but a challenging uphill battle. Very relaxed, they were able to get us in last minute without a scheduled tee time. Staff and regulars were very warm and welcoming. Would recommend for a great, affordable golfing adventure!

Fun layout with fantastic views of the ocean from many holes. Unfortunately for us just done plugging greens and fairways, but we still really enjoyed the round.
