Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited Kona with my family and we wanted to visit a Coffee plantation and found this one. At first we were skeptical because of the steep price but decided we were on vacation so why not. Turns out, the coffee farm was a great attractions. The grounds were beautiful and the people working here were very friendly and informative. We loved the mill and Japanese home. The people working at the mill and home were great! I learned so much. I would definitely recommend coming here.

As a family of history lovers, we’re so glad we didn’t miss this. Sunshine was an excellent and knowledgeable host/guide.

This is a very interesting little museum. I believe it was put together by the Greenwell Family themselves. It gives one a much better feel and idea what it was like in Hawaii a hundred years ago

Allow 1 to 1.5 hours to view the museum offerings, mostly of cowboy history, but some cultural aspects as well. One of our favorite posters was "flowers and colors of each island." Big Island's color is red and the island flower is Lehua; Maui's color is pink and the flower is the Lokelani rose, etc. Another was the quote by Master Lei Maker Marie MacDonald who said "The lei is an expression of love, affection, respect or honor. It's the most beautiful thing I can make, from the most beautiful material at hand. As long as the lei is at its peak when I give it to you, it shows that I care." There's an ownership chart of Parker Ranch beginning with John Palmer Parker and ending six generations later with Richard Kaleioku Smart. There are many photos and bios of Hawaiian cowboys, artifacts and original saddles. We're happy this museum seeks to preserve paniolo culture and history.

My wife and I drove to experience the Waipi'o Valley Overlook and while doing some research about nearby places of interest , I read about the Heritage Center. It was a low key but very interesting trip into the cultural , ethnic , economic and World War II look into the history of the town of Honokaa.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and we not only enjoyed our visit , we learned quite a bit. It's not that far from Hilo and the Akaka Falls as well.

If you find yourself in Hilo and have an hour or two to kill. This is a nice enough place to see and learn about Japanese Arts and they even have a store type where you can purchase.
