Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a couple of hours walking around this area which has an ancient feel about it. The map provided by the Park Service is very useful as there is no signage on sight (out of respect to the continuing cultural importance of the area). Just past the small gift store is an outdoor theatre with an short film which shouldn't be missed. We were very glad that we took the time to visit this special part of Hawai'i.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! I could’ve spent the entire day. The trail down to the valley is steep but definitely worth the effort! The valley has a beautiful beach and a wooded area that is stunning & looks like something out of Jurassic Park.

We have visited 5 different coffee farms during our stay on Big Island - each had something different to offer and here we also put a bigger twist on the experience; rather than going with the traditional coffee farm tour we opted for the coffee roasting tour aka Paniolo Roasting, what a blast!

We have arrived during the only rainy day we had during our 3 weeks in Hawaii so that played out even a bit better than being outside, though they provide umbrellas :) The place is super cute, as they really all are - you can't go wrong here to be perfectly honest, each of the 5 places were fantastic.

You get to roast green beans on fire (rather than commercial roaster) - the experience/smell/aroma/sounds is a memory for life! And then you get to packaged and name your coffee (they professionally seal it so it arrived back home with us perfectly fine) and best, drink your own roasted coffee at home - funny enough we though it will be meh... but it was actually delicious! We roasted one of them very little and the other medium - both were amazing, and definitely something that stick with your soul/heart for life!

TIP: of course you still get to try/sample their in house coffees 4 of them - they were once of the higher priced ones in our tour of the 5 places and since we got to keep our own roasted ones... I left happy :)

We flew over the Waipi'o Valley in a helicopter tour and it was lush and beautiful with a gorgeous coast. We also visited the lookout which provides absolutely gorgeous views.

We just loved our tour! Jen was fantastic and so knowledgeable on the process and general operations. We highly recommend this tour for an "off the beaten path" experience!

So many interesting things to see. We went to where the road ended going towards Kilauea where we had a fantastic view of the red hot lava. Taking the road down to the ocean we saw old deep creators and watched the waves crash against the rock bluff.

It was amazing to learn about the farm to cup process. You don’t realize how intricate coffee really is until this tour. Definitely recommend.

From the moment we walked up to the gate until we left, we were treated to some of the most passionate staff and volunteers we have ever seen at a museum. Everyone was great in terms of describing the history of the farm, the coffee process and how it evolved over the years, and how it fits into the culture. This place was a great stop and one we were really happy we made plans to stop and see.

First thing first; not sure why the other 3 reviews are saying... we did indeed see some tents but it's just a local "business/org" and we were allowed to park on the grass and actually there are a few parking spots right before you start heading to the Vista Point - I think they were referring to the actual descent to the water level which I believe is not allowed any more and this is for the Waipio Valley Lookout which anyone can still get to! It's a nice drive, slower through some residential areas at times but don't listen to what other say, you do want to come here, trust me!!!

Once you arrive here, park the car, take the stairs down to the info and vista point spot = once you read the significant historical background you will appreciate this place even more - being to the 4 main islands and visiting these "inter-connected" spots made me appreciate this place even more - so if you have a same chance them you must see the Pali Lookout on Oahu and Iao Valley in Maui - this will complete your experience! There are restrooms here and also some shade, a great stop for picnic, midday lunch break!

There are some fruit stands here and there but also there is a great Macadamia store/plant right after you get off the main road 19 - Ahualoa Family Farm (created a separate profile for them) - an absolute must while in the area!!!

TIP: drive slower, this is just a somewhat residential area, very popular spot, just be respectful - it's a perfectly paved and normal road, I thought originally that it takes a while to get here from the main road because of bad surface but it's perfectly fine, it's just some small villages along the road with school/crossings etc. that force you to go slower

    Unassuming. Captivating. Savory. Fun.

Unassuming, because I didn’t think it was going to be a blast. But I left there feeling so good and happy that we started to plan which friends we are bringing here.

Captivating, because of the storytelling, landscape views and live entertainment.

Savory, because in every bite you get that umami flavor.

Fun, because the entire experience caused my face to smile.

For you Kamaʻāina, good place for da ohana get together. Get place and activities foa just let da kids go enjoy. Storytelling and live country music is on point! Da buffet is winnahs (Prime Rib). Ask fo da Kamaʻāina discount!

Quick little stop to see this hand painted church interior. The church was originally constructed down on the coast but was dismantled , moved up the hill and reassembled. Definitely worth a quick stop! Be sure you also stop at some of the "roadside bakeries" which are usually just a table with a cooler or two on it..... Some of the best banana bread I've ever had and great deals on local avocado, mango, papaya etc.
