Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent tour through the various villages surrounding Lake Atítlan. Hotel pickup and breakfast are provided, lunch and all other purchases are on you. Such an enriching experience exploring cultures so vastly different than our own. Highly recommend!

The Lake is absolutely beautiful and worth the several hour car trip.

We had our guide Ruben and driver Sam pick us up at our hotel and we were the only one's on the tour. We stopped at a Chichoy restaurant, which apparently had an interesting history but we realized later that it's a chain restaurant as we stopped at another Chichoy on the way back that wasn't the one we stopped at earlier. So not sure what is true.

Ruben was partly knowledgeable about the history of the Mayas in the region and his English was good.

The town of San Juan after the boat trip is beautiful but very touristic. Stay away from the shops as they charge through the nose.

Otherwise, a great day trip to add to your stay in Antigue.

I recently chaperoned a student group (high school) to Antigua and we wanted to go Pana for a day and visit the surrounding towns of Lake Atitlan. Voyageur was easy to work with from the States and responded promptly to my questions. On the day of the trip we arrived late to Pana from Antigua due to traffic and students that needed a longer rest stop. When the guide (Alejandro) explained that we could only fit in one town, he explained a little about each one and asked which I preferred. I thought he did a great job listening to my requests for a town that had a bit of culture and history and less shopping. He took us to Santiago and explained about the political conflicts and the impact of the civil war. He also did a great job explaining the power of the Catholic church and the complexities of merging Mayan beliefs into that power structure. The students had a worthwhile experience and I felt very safe while chaperoning my group. I also want to say thanks to Julio our bus driver. He was courteous and seemed to enjoy the group of students...even when they played music in the back of the bus! One of the students really wanted to practice speaking Spanish with him and he invited him to sit up front and they discussed all sorts of topics as they drove. Thank you Julio and Alejandro! Thanks Voyageur Tours!

We really enjoyed our time with David. He introduced us to knowledgeable guides who taught us about traditional Mayan chocolate making, traditional Mayan spinning, dyeing and weaving and bee keeping and preservation. He shared some words from his native Mayan language with us and showed us how to recognize genuine handicrafts.

Bring a neck pillow and seat cushion - ride is long and bumpy and depending on the traffic, getting back to Guatemala City can take as much as 5 hrs!

Salvador was an amazing guide. His equipment was great (tent, really warm sleeping bag, matress) and the food he provided was also perfect with veggie option if you tell him before. The view from the top in the morning is incredible! So in our opinion better stay overnight :)
But mostly we loved his insights in Guatemala, Maya culture and bird expertise.
We highly recommend Salvador and this trip!

Could not have asked for a better guide than Marcelino, and Lee was a pleasure to schedule and work with to tailor our day trip. Highly recommended! Appreciated the time and last minute coordination. Although I was not able to reach the summit of Toliman I was very happy with the day overall, and will work with them again

    thank you!

I was blessed to spend a week with LeeAnn on a personal development retreat with a small group of like-minded people. LeeAnn facilitated a unique experience that included visits to local towns and demonstrations with local weavers n craftspeople (and discounts!), one-of-a-kind restaurants that served to-die-for meals, fact-filled trips to cathedrals and historical sites, and spiritual ceremonies with Juan, a powerful shaman whose connections with the ancestors lead to deep personal discoveries and gifts. I can't say enough about the retreat which continues to impact my life every day. LeeAnn is a gifted shaman and guide, with a wealth of experience and a great sense of humor, and she is passionate about sharing the culture, beauty and magic of Guatemala with the world. She also hooked us up with kayaks, a bird-watching guide who took us into the cloud forests and called in exotic birds, and introduced us to many locals who welcomed us into their beautiful and fascinating community. Whether you have a few days or a few hours to spend with LeeAnn, I guarantee the experience will be a highlight of your trip that you'll remember for the rest of your life.

This was an amazing experience for the entire family. We traveled with two boys ages 9 and 11 years old, Grandma and Grandpa and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The travel guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond in accommodating our needs. The guided translated everything twice both in English and Spanish for my parents. Eva the reception at Guatemala Adventures set up an amazing itinerary for us filled with adventures and some relaxing time. I will definitely be traveling to Guatemala again in the next year or so and will definitely be using Guatemala Adventures to set up my trip. Amazing experience!!!! We will be using Guatemala Adventure again!!

My favorite part was learning about the culture and seeing the beauty of Guatemala. The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our time with him.
