Pura Vida! Lydia is a very talented artist and a warm gracious shop owner in Tamarindo.
Lydia Beech is tucked away back behind Pacifico and has the most beautiful artwork and jewelry that I found in Tamarindo by far.
I highly recommend this lovely shop for its friendly and helpful owner and staff, the variety of clothing at reasonable prices, and the most wonderfully comfortable, travel-friendly shoes I've found.
If you visit Tamarindo the shop is a must.! Selection is amazing - bathing suits, dresses, shoes, pants, etc... Great custom suits, cute clothing as well!!
Recently, our family rented a vacation home for a week, and we were fortunate to have Chef Jimmy T come every night to cook an AWSOME dinner for all 14 of us.
He also made sure our trip was as easy and fun as possible from lining up having some house lights fixed in our rental to keeping groceries plentiful.

Sibu Chocolate

San Isidro
We had a quick lunch here on the way to Toucan Ranch, wish we could have stayed longer, such a lovely atmosphere, beautiful grounds, and absolutely delicious food.
There is a little gift shop with a selection of chocolate options (cocoa powder, hot chocolate mixes, chocolate bars and boxes of assorted chocolate) all packaged to take on the plane.

Caribeans Coffee & Chocolate

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
My boyfriend and I came here initially for the cacao tour + chocolate tasting (which was an awesome experience), and returned several times for breakfast and coffee/chocolate drinks.
The shop itself is wonderful, you have free chocolate samples and overall a wonderful carribean atmosphere.
This shop felt like a little gallery as so many different arts and crafts were displayed from lovely ceramics and textiles to wood crafts and paintings.
This is one of the shops we always visit and we always find something unique and Tico (Costa Rican) made to take back with us.
The handiwork and crafts in the shop are simply incredible and celebrate the diverse indigenous tribes throughout Costa Rica.
This fairtrade gallery was filled with amazing art from many cultures throughout Costa Rica.
If you are into gardening or are a foodie, or if you just want to enjoy some delicious treats and learn a bit about food, plants and animals, this tour is for you.
At the end of the tour, we went into a small shop where they sold: vanilla beans, vanilla extract, bay leaves, ground cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, peppercorns, spices, and chocolate candy.
Just off the parking lot entrance to the Monteverde Forest Reserve, and up a small flight of cement stairs, is the hummingbird gallery, gift shop and coffee house.
Gift shop to pick up a book or souvenirs, then head into the Cloud Forest Reserve for a hike & more impressive views

La Feria Legendaria de Playa Chiquita

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
Unless you're looking to surf, this is definitely the best beach in the area for any other need.
"The best beach in the area"
As you enter the shop you get a really warm greeting from the very friendly, helpful and informative Guillermo and his wife Laura who create the wonderful jewellery.
Every year, for the past 7 years, I look forward to shopping at EK Art when I visit Tamarindo with my family.
We had a short tour of the history of the ox-cart in Costa Rica and saw a active working Ox-cart building and painting, saw a couple artists (amazing work) and had a great time in the fabulous gift shop!
AND of course, their huge souvenier shop containing all the beautiful wood handicrafts, paintings, dresses, purses etc. Beautiful tables inlaid with the 6 different popular woods of Costa Rica.

For me living near Multipliza, and being a place where you can find everything, I can really recommend it, you can go to see movies, to the super market, Auto Mercado, with is the best here, as you can find local...
We were pleasantly surprised that this mall is huge and has such a nice variety of shops including clothes, shoes, accessories and on and on and also includes a pharmacy and a market.

Souvenir Leo

La Fortuna de San Carlos
We so enjoyed our experience at the shop as we drank coconut juice from a fresh coconut, met “Claro” their pet parrot and enjoyed our conservation with the couple who were extremely friendly and accepting of our l...
We purchased a few handmade items that Leo and his wife Marisol made themselves and were given a wonderful tour of their gardens that were full of orchids and other local flowers.
This place is amazing!! Barry Biesanz gave me a tour of the shop and gardens, I learned a lot about the wood he uses and the time and care he takes to craft these amazing works of art.
He encouraged us to touch everything to feel the quality, and then left us to wander the showroom to look at all of the pieces.
You’ll find lots of wood bowls in souvenir shops across Costa Rica, but here you have the opportunity to meet the people who are making the art and get a personal tour of their shop!
He also will show off his fantastic garden which has sugar cane, a macadamia tree, and coffee plants amongst numerous others.
It is an interesting maze and mix of stalls with merchandise ranging from touristy souvenirs to local herbal pharmacy products to restaurant supplies to pet store to sodas (casual quick food) and a coffee shop.
I was surprised at the variety of things available, fun to see everything! It’s a lot of little shops all under one roof, lots of people, and small sit down restaurants.

Absolutely loved our visit, unlike the normal souvenir shops, this one actually has a very knowledgeable guide to educate you on the different Costa Rican, indigenous cultures, there geographical locations, their...
Our host was extremely knowledgeable and personable, and I found the perfect gifts for my friends at home.
Across the main road from the National Museum on Calle 17, a small wonderful shop and museum showcasing and selling crafts from the Indigenous people.
This wonderful shop is owned by a very friendly couple who have worked with indigenous people for many years when they were working for an NGO in Costa Rica.
It was a great 2 hours visit in the Mercado' we enjoy the shopping of souvenirs and mainly the smell from the fast food shops and the local bands who play local music over the weekend between the shops
It's a new building (Calle 5 & Av 6) with wide isles and flat floors that is easy to walk around in. Basically a series of small shops selling a huge variety of souvenirs and in some cases very similar items.

This store carries nice souvenirs like cooking spices, chocolate, soaps, art, silver jewelry, hand-painted masks, books, etc. It’s a step up from the T-shirt shops lining the street.
Great place to find unique items. The prices are reasonable and the selection is much better than your typical souvenir shop.

Luluberlu Art Gallery

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
Colorful, fun art gallery and shop with all kinds of beautiful treasures.
A must-do stop in a place with few ( thankfully) tourist shops

City Mall

The top three floors have all of the upscaled shops and stores you would expect in a large US mall.
Barber shop, technology, home store, aesthetics and more.
Went out of their way to be helpful about where to shop and what was authentic Costa Rican.

Wood & Art Gallery

La Fortuna de San Carlos
Enjoyed a browse here among some beautiful wooden handicrafts and found a couple of great gifts for people at home.
Great small owner made locally sourced wood shop.
For self catering the shop stocks pretty much anything a healthy eater might want - organic fresh produce, specialties such as nutritional yeast and Braggs Aminos, all sorts of drinks inc local kombucha and more.
They have a great selection of health food products, vegan treats, and orgánics.

Onirica Art Gallery

La Fortuna de San Carlos
One of my favorite places to visit in La Fortuna, the gallery features different styles by local artists and handmade jewelry.
It offers beautiful, high-quality, original art from local artists presented in a well-kept shop.
Awesome place where you can buy handmade souvenirs but most important, eat delicious and the cheapest home made (in traditional way, with fireplace!) in all of the Costa Rica food: casados (flat rate, independing...
There's a bakery across the street, a coffee shop next door, and a specialty food store next door too.
See 1 Experience
There is a huge variety of fruits and vegetables, also baked goods and meats.
Wooden bowls I had eyes on were 30-50% cheaper here than at the shops.

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
We popped into owner Martin’s shop and soon was provided with a detailed and delectable pairing of 3 different wines to 3 kinds of chocolate from among the local cacao farms.
Today we had a great beer/wine and chocolate pairing at cho.co! Really interesting to taste the difference a good pairing makes in the flavour of both the drink and the chocolate.
