Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some interesting artefacts. The dinosaurs are incredible. Huge recreations skeletons of these are really cool. The Hope diamond is well displayed and a crazy size. The gem section is worth a look

As a modern museum, it is very dynamic, with various sections. They leave no room for doubt about the historical theme, very sad actually, that awakens mixed feelings about humanity. They also touch on culture, entertainment and great African-American figures. We were lucky to receive tickets the same day. It is super well put and is a must see

If you have not been to DC before, you have to see the Capitol up close. Tour or no tour is up to you, but the building and location is a must see. I have been many times, but this trip was showing my 8 y.o. daughter around and you just get to see in their eyes the recognition of where they actually are. I am sure that security issues are high right now after recent events, but this is still a major location in the governance of our country and deserves a visit.

We spread our visit over two days and it was still almost impossible to do justice to this museum. They have an amazing permanent collection. The docents are enthusiastic and helpful; the security staff is there for the paycheck (with a few exceptions) spending more time chatting and looking at their cell phones. The West building has two floors; the East building, accessed by a lower level concourse, has maybe four floors to see. There are two very extensive gift shops and two cafes. Make time to see this fabulous museum, maybe spreading your visit over three days with a couple of hours a day.

As heartbreaking as you’d expect on such a emotional subject, yet done very compassionately and with clear education as well. A must visit for all generations

    Worth the visit.
See the paintings in the halls, the huge reading hall, and the temporary exhibitions as we did.
The Thomas Jefferson Building features exhibitions like the pictures exhibition "Not an ostrich" and installations that bring the Library's unparalleled collections to life.

This museum is definitely worth a visit. So so many things to do and see.

We found the Wright Brothers exhibit the most interesting.

If I’m Washington, visit this place!

You feel the cost of this war for America by walking along the black walls of this memorial, designed like a scar in the soil.
Do not hesitate to ask for information from Vietnam's war veterans who are present all day long: they will be glad to share their history.

Walking from the Capitol to the Washington Monument [and on to the Lincoln Memorial] is a great experience. Fun and free. Many free museums to stop in along the way.

This is one of the smaller memorials. It is stunning to look at. You can find this right after the Lincoln memorial to the left trail

We only did the presidential gallery and one other exhibit. It was no line, no admission, no crowd, and the enclosed courtyard was very nice. Looked at the menu at the cafe but nothing sparked our interest.

Don't let the topic or some of the bad press turn you off from a great experience. Although it is a religious topic, the museum is remarkably non-religious. One doesn't have to believe in the Bible or know anything about he Bible to have an enjoyable visit. The presentations of the Old and New Testaments are particularly well done. The exhibit about a 20th century Chinese martyr (Watchman Nee) is very moving, rare for a any museum to include anything about Chinese, or even Asian contributions/influence on the world. The restaurant serves surprisingly excellent food. Fly through buildings in Washington Revelations--woth the extra money if you don't get motion sickness. The price of admission is high compared to all the free stuff in D.C. but you can tell that no expense was spared to create a great museum and memorable visit.

This is the first monument we visited. It’s so large. We did not tour the inside. I’m hoping to be able to do it at another time. It was very busy when we were there.

A must visit for its houses, streets, businesses, restaurants and bars. Waterfront with its businesses on the Potomac.
