Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is nothing better than experiencing DC from the water. Captain Denny and his crew provide an intimate, personalized experience to meet your unique tastes. I'm a repeat customer and will never get tired of this cruise. Find out what you never knew about this history behind the scenery while enjoying spectacular views!

A very fun experience and great way to see the tidal basin monuments and get some fun pics. The staff could be a bit friendlier but you only deal with them for a few minutes and then you’re paddling the water with your group. Remember that you’ll have to wear a life jacket the entire time and that can be HOT so plan accordingly. Also, DC entails a lot of walking so paddling can be tiring if you do it later in the day. Early morning is a great time and you can book ahead (in fact, that’s the better way to do it).

We rented kayaks and paddleboards at Boating in DC – the Wharf Boathouse near L’Enfant Plaza. We had trouble finding the place, but we did (not by the other charter boats and not near the fish market). It's right by a splash pad which was great to cool off in. We could use the restrooms at the nearby restaurant or hotel. They had medium size lockers available - big enough for a backpack and they provided a lock. We were forewarned about starting the timer right away before you're out on the boat and being charged unfairly, but they were pretty relaxed and not particular with us - maybe because of previous reviews or maybe not a lot of people renting that time. Make sure to put enough sunscreen on and bring a hat if you're kayaking - there isn't shade on the river. The kids used paddle boards, 1 new and 1 somewhat experienced. The river was calm enough that our somewhat experienced child could teach the other. The guy who was by the boats hadn't paddle boarded before and could only instruct in theory. The boardwalk is hot, so apparently people usually walk down with shoes on, leave them there (not locked up) and then they have shoes to walk back in. We didn't know that and were okay down but had hot feet on the way back. As we are not big boaters, it was a little intimidating to be out on this wide river, but it wasn't too long before we were pretty comfortable. We should have brought water and light snacks in the double kayak. Fun thing to do.

Best overall value SUP lessons in the national capital region. The provided equipments (helmet, PFD, paddle, SUP) are in an almost new condition. Greg (owner) is an excellent instructor. He has superb interpersonal skills when interacting with students.

One of Shaod's employees driving a Shaod company truck in DC hit my personal vehicle. Shaod's employee did not have insurance information in the vehicle, Shaod would not answer his calls, nor would Shaod answer my phone calls. He would not take responsibility for his company vehicle damaging my personal vehicle. I do not recommend this company because a legitimate company would have taken responsibility for their employee actions in a company vehicle. Further, the company vehicle had expired plates, which suggests Shaod's company does not conduct proper maintenance on their vehicles.
