The Cezanne retrospective now at the Art Institute through early September is stupendous. The curators have gathered works from the AIC's own large holdings of Cezanne plus other museums across Europe and the U.S. for a comprehensive look at the life work this important late 19th Century painter. Cezanne revisited the same subjects time after time over the course of decades. To see several in one room is a rare opportunity. I also loved the video in which the curators dissected 3 paintings, even using infrared technology, to explain how, using color, Cezanne built up his images. It's a large show, about 130 works, plus notebooks and other items, so plan to spend a couple hours with it.

Over the years, my wife and I have experienced some of the most spectacular and beautiful sights in the world...like Pebble Beach and Carmel Bay in California, New York harbor and the Statue of Liberty in New York City, Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon in Arizona. As native Chicagoans, we have the pleasure of viewing Lake Michigan. Chicago is the birthplace of skyscrapers, home of deep dish pizza and one of the largest urban cities in the United States. But it also is home to 26 miles of scenic lakefront and sandy shoreline where you can swim, bike, kayak, canoe, boat, jet ski, paddleboard, play golf, volleyball, handball and tennis, fishing, engage in bird-watching and sight-seeing, listen to live music, dine, drink beer, eat hot dogs, walk, jog and picnic amid its numerous beaches, public parks, gardens and 18-mile Lakefront Trail. Visit Navy Pier, the No. 1 tourist attraction in Illinois, or enjoy a cruise on the Lake Michigan or Chicago River. Oh, it's colder than the Gulf of Mexico. But it's fresh water, not salty. And the view of Chicago's skyline from North Avenue Beach is a postcard for photographers. There are eight beaches along the way--Hollywood, Montrose, North Avenue, Oak Street, 31st Street, 12th Street, South Shore, Rainbow--and, although they are closed to swimmers during the Coronavirus pandemic, they remain popular destinations for sight-seers, bird-watchers, walkers, joggers, bikers and picnickers.

Phenomenal. Dennis was a fantastic tour guide that kept the tour interesting and fun for all. This was our first distillery experience and it couldn’t have gone better

My friend and I went day tripping in Shawnee. We of course hit the Garden of the Gods first thing in the morning to try to avoid the crowds. We got there about 8 AM and there weren’t many other people. It’s cool that you can climb around on the rocks but man, one bad foot placement and you could easily fall to your death. Be careful! There’s some great views

The little trail for the overlook is paved and can be done by most ages/activity levels. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want by scrambling up rocks, etc.

My friend and I also hit up Burden Falls because we wanted to do the hiking there. The road to this tiny parking lot is not paved and pockmarked with pot holes. It’s a little weird when you park there because you’re right at the top of the waterfall and it looks as if you can walk right down to it, but alas, you must do the entire out and back trail to get to the bottom of it. This trail isn’t hard per se, IF you don’t have any mobility issues. My friend has bad knees and she definitely had issues on the way back up due to the steep incline. We did do some scrambling and I did make it up to the tops of the falls but there are warning signs telling you not to go any further because the rocks are slippery and they are VERY slippery. My friend did fall several times on the slipper rocks/trail. Please be careful and take your time!!

Wow!! Classy, informative and just the right size. Everyone should see this. If you know a lot about Lincoln, you’ll learn more. If you don’t know much, it’s the perfect introduction. Well laid out. Easy to navigate. The two movies are powerful.

This is still a very good mall. Most malls in my home area are shutting down or half empty. This mall still looks to have a pretty high occupancy and with good stores. Had a good time walking around and shopping.

Great 15-minute scenic drive - on one side, a variety of nice historic, fancy homes and on the other side, various views overlooking the Illinois River. Nice walking path alongside. A few places to park, get out, walk around, and take in the views.

Where we live we don't have open air flea markets. We went in July and did enjoy it. Everyone working was very very nice and accommodating. Reasonable $2 to get in per person and they had a ton of food trucks with lots of food variety. Only thing we thought that was missing was antiques and more furniture items. BUT that has nothing to do with Wolff's, just was happenstance. Areas were clean. Overall was a great time!

Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5.

    Time required:
    1) One hour to rush through all exhibits and perhaps try one simulation, watched a couple of videos, and took some photos.
    2) 2-3 hours is perhaps adequate for most visitors.
    3) To look at everything thoroughly without rushing, you will need 5-6 hours.

    Parking:
    1) Street parking on Main St next to the museum but must either pay via App or phone.
    2) There is an underground parking right underneath the visitor center where you will enter from Water St.

    What I liked:
    1) clean and organized facility from restrooms, lobby, gift shops, to exhibition floors.
    2) Mid-size museum that's cover pretty much everything you should know about Caterpillar as a general public. You can confidently walk away with new knowledges and learning experiences from this visit.
    3) Has variety in how information is communicated: hands on/do it yourself experience, touchscreen learning, to old fashion museum-like exhibits.
    4) Most video clips they have are about 30 seconds to 2 minute long, which is great, and you can choose whatever topics that interests you the most or read them all! The amount of info each video clip provided is adequate.
    5) They have staff on the floor to answer questions
    6) There is at least one elevator available
    7) Hand sanitizer readily available throughout the museum
    8) Multiple live-sized Caterpillar equipment and parts

    What they can do better:
    1) Video clips inside the "Caterpillar Jobsite Theater" was malfunctioning, some were missing, and some were repetitive.
    2) The water faucet in the restrooms were a bit harder to use.
Had these issues did not happen, this museum would have earned a 5 out of 5 rating.

    Additional Info:
    1) It's NOT free, please check the website to confirm admissions fees.
    2) There isn't a cafe in the museum. There are plenty of restaurants/coffee shops nearby as it's in downtown Peoria and next to the waterfront.
    3) It's right in the heart of downtown Peoria. There are other attractions nearby which you may consider. For example, there is another museum called Peoria Riverfront Museum next to it. Most people visit both. I personally haven't been there yet.

As a first time season pass holder and also meal pass holder having visited many times in 2021 with my preteen kids, I can say that I love the rides. Like any other park, no one likes to wait in line, so we learned the system and strategized our time to maximize the experience.

What is shocking, is the lack of guidance and training all food service employees receive. It is painfully slow.

While standing in line for 30 minutes just to place an order, I have observed that there is no system and full of inefficiencies. Any fast food manager can come in and whip this place up to shape to speed it up. I think it is not a priority for management.

But the waterpark and rides are all great and a deal when holding the pass!

Super good variety and all are tasty. The Vienna Lager was so creamy. The Citra was good as was the birra. All of them were super good. Definitely come if at Great Wolf Lodge or close by. It’s also dog and kid friendly. A flight is 4 4 oz pours for 9.00. They do offer a military and teachers discount. Great spot.

Fun spot to stop for a picture. The tower was built in 1937 - to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the more famous leaning tower. When we can’t travel it felt like a mini (very mini) vacation.
