Definitely visit this museum. We got a 24 hour tallinn card and did this as our last museum of the day. We truly did save the best for last. The building itself is super cool, and there are a number of interactive fun exhibits for adults and youngsters to enjoy. Make sure you have the energy for an hour or two visit to take everything in! Including walking through the submarine, trying out an antiaircraft gun and even playing with some remote controlled boats!

We absolutely loved our time at this fantastic outdoors museum. I

It was really easy to get to by bus from Tallin. Staff were very nice. The cafe was great with local food and especially good coffee, great place to take a break.

Make sure you stop at the farm that details traditional Estonian wedding celebrations, that was interesting.

Make a circuitous routing anti clockwise, finishing at the communist era apartment building. This was so enlightening. The curator will show you the best way to view the various apartments starting from the earliest in the 1960's working your way to modern times. Was a great way to understand what Estonia has been through, especially watch the 10min movie in the basement about collective farming.

So glad we made the effort to get here.
We arrived for opening just after 10am and didn't leave till about 3pm then we had plenty of time back in the old town of Tallin.

This place offers so much to do and to see. Restaurants and bars on every corner and all that in a very cool, industrial setting.

    A must!

It’s not quite the usual farmer’s market since it has a very wide range of fresh produce and many shops, from roadside itinerant ones selling old records and thrift shop items to actual stores with new products. There’s also an extensive variety of food shops so go hungry and ready to try a couple of the offerings from delicious puffs to kebabs and Japanese food.
It was a fun way to spend a Saturday morning but the whole market seemed somewhat disorganised. However we did pick up some luscious strawberries, local chocs and enjoyed many tidbits along the way.

This was a really well displayed museum of spectacular emblems denoting royalty, military, or service orders from all over the world. While diamonds and other gems are outstanding seeing them in context of other honors made it even more special. We also enjoyed discussions with the folks working there. To really see it all you need a solid hour.

2€ will gain you access to the extensive ruin that at one time housed both nuns and monks under one roof. We visited in the winter months and were the only people on site which felt strange and eerie. The information boards throughout gave a real insight to how life would have been and even though the convent is a ruin the living areas are still evident and the history easy to follow. There were gated towers and cellars that could be accessed however we chose not to given the time of day with light starting to fade. I could imagine this will be a great place to visit in the spring/summer months as the grounds are extensive and pretty.

This is petite but beautifully preserved. Accessed via an ancient archway into the courtyard. The steps to the museum are old and uneven.

A nice small museum in Tallinn old town. Probably more interesting for local people who have some experience in the puppetry theatre to have a kind of "I remember..." effect as well (but sure I can be wrong about that). This time a very interesting exhibition about Urmas Alender was presented there but again - I believe it is for people who remember this actor and singer.

This place may be a crumbling relic from the late soviet era but it’s worth a visit for the unique brutalist architecture and the panoramic views.

This is a pleasant hill to walk around & get away from the cruise tour groups across the street on Toompea. It gives a good view of the parks & Freedom Square below. I had a drink & a snack at the small cafe here.

Estonia is a land of beer and spirits but it does have an unconventional wine culture too. Want sparkling rhubarb, plum, apple or lingonberry wine, among other? This is the place. But there is more to it than a wine shop. You get to see and hear how it was set up as a distillery in Czarist Russia, flourished with a monopoly on berries for drinks in the inter-war republic but was then seized by the KGB although one owner made a daring escape to Sweden. It was revived only in recent years.

The first time I visited synagogue from the inside. This one was really impressive and beautiful. The guide did his job well to give many details about the building and history. I highly recommend it.

we were on "Legends of Tallinn" tour, April 22, 2022. We have guide Jelena. her dedication and knowledge was first class. absolutely awesome output, really understandable english and the positive energy was really great. we definitely want her again as our guide. good situation awareness and knew how to be creative.

Tour was really fun, and there was so good stories/legends. We have been visiting Estonia over 20years now, and this was so good tour. Everybody should go this tour.

We where visiting Europes oldest pharmacy, old town building, many churches.

My visit to Estonia was a little last minute, and I added it as I had to go to nearby Finland anyway. The main thing I wanted to do in Estonia- something I'd had in my head for a winter trip for several years- was to drive on the ice roads. But this was not available. The roads have not been built in 2022.

I had two choices- find something else to do, or can the whole trip, and go to Finland directly. It seemed a little criminal to do that as I was in the neighbourhood anyway!

I found Prangli Tours and saw their offerings, and spoke with Annika. She was just so proactive. Having understood my interests and the fact I wanted something active, she made a couple of suggestions. One was a custom made waterfall, forest and bog full day hiking tour- a solid 8 hours. It's not on their list, but she was able to find a wilderness guide who was prepared to do it as a 'special'.

That's how I ended up on a day hike with Ants Kari, a rescue firefighter and wilderness guide. I was expecting Ants, but as a bonus I got Helen too! This husband and wife team- highly experienced, very knowledgeable and easygoing- led me through parts of the wintry Lahemaa National Park, visiting four waterfalls, a couple of villages and the snowed over Viru Bog. It was something like 10km hiking, with a small picnic lunch of Estonian black bread and home made honey (Ants is also a beekeeper!) with coffee.

I ask a lot of questions, and I'm sure this can get annoying. But both Ants and Helen were very keen to share their immense knowledge. It was a superb day! I thank Annika for setting me up on this, and to the Karis for guiding me. And also one of the things Helen said was I was better dressed for this day hike than other day hikers, with the snow and the wind. That too is thanks to Annika- over whatsapp she gave me very clear direction on what to wear. i think if I wasn't appropriately dressed it would have been a day to be endured rather than enjoyed.

So my thanks to Annika, Helen and Ants. And I recommend them highly.
