Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tallinn Old Town is stunning. So many beautiful buildings to see. Lots of small cobbled streets and passageways. The parks surrounding Old Town are also worth an explore. Lovely coffee places and restaurants to enjoy.

Lovely panoramic city views from atop the hill and with narrow cobbled streets it is very nice stroll. Alexander Nevsky cathedral is the main site up here. A must see when in Tallinn.

Beautiful town square, historic, and well-preserved. A must-see if you're visiting Tallinn. The focal point is the Tallinn Town Hall, and shops and restaurants encompass the rest of the cobblestoned square. If not necessarily geographically/physically, it is certainly the figurative center of Old Town.

This is a great church, which looks much better from outside. Inside, it is smaller and less impressive than might be expected.

A visit to this church is a must if you want to see Tallinn and the Old Town with the clearest 360 view. The narrow stone stairs takes you to the tower which offers the best view in the city from what seems to be the tallest building in the city.
The cost to enter is 5 euros and you need to be prepared to climb the narrow winding stairs. So if your knees or legs are weak then forget it. It's a definite must do.

This is a gorgeous ancient wall, surrounding the old city of Tallinn.
It features numerous towers, which provide fantastic photo-ops.

An excellent experience as always, an amazing set of very diverse exhibitions, I particularly loved "melanie bonajo: When the body says Yes+", spent an hour there,
the generally pleasant atmosphere, the absolute favourite bookshop and cafe.

We visited the square on many occasions during our visit to Tallinn.

The town hall is a focal point standing prominently in the square and really adds to the character of the place.

Excellent views of the surrounding countryside and the sea with Tallinn in the distance. Excellent indoor views plus glass floor areas dotted about. The floor has activities for young kids as well as a vr experience at an extra cost. Good outside viewing area and small openings to take clear pictures of the views. You can also see the place where, if you are brave enough, you can arrange to walk on the edge in a harness. Not for me! Lovely views of the greenery down below and distant coast line areas.

Nice cafe and restaurant area here too. Plain and simple but some nice cake treats and coffee. Excellent gift shop with a lot to tempt you. Enjoyed the simple history section on the lower floor too with loads of photos and interesting info on the construction. They also had a stained glass exhibition area. Good staff too.

Can be reached by hop on and off bus and normal bus. I went via Uber. Not bad price.

Historical, quaint, easy to find, and doesn't take a lot of time to stroll through. In addition to the ubiquitous shops that are spread throughout Old Town (glass and ceramics, here), there are gravestones on one of the walls from hundreds of years ago (if memory serves, in the 13 or 1400s?), which are neat to check out.

These are fantastic ancient gates to the old town.
They provide a fantastic photo-op and provide a castle-like atmosphere to the old town's entrance.

The street is literally a long street in Old Town. It has many attractions, souvenir shops, churches, museums, restaurants, cafes, stores etc. It is a street you will be happy to just walk and make quick visits in an out of these places. After all you are on vacation. .no need to rush just enjoy.

An amazing sight of red rooftops, church spires and the cruise terminal. The roof of Pika Jala Gate is just below. A great view of much of the Old Town, with St Olav’s Church in the distance. It really is a panoramic view!

St Mary’s Cathedral is the oldest church in Tallinn, built in the 13th century. It was rebuilt after a fire in the 17th century and is also known as the Dome Church. Inside, on the walls, there are numerous carved decorative wooden coats of arms, epitaphs which date from the 17th-20th centuries. The beautiful pulpit with figures of the apostles, is from 1686. The painted pews with doors, are lovely but don’t look too comfortable! This was probably to ensure you stayed awake during the service! The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Tallinn of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church. It is a beautiful cathedral and well worth visiting.

Picture perfect view of old town and nearby harbour with cruise ships. There is another viewing area a short walk from here. If you are already on the Alexander Nevsky cathedral side then it is no great hardship to get here. If you are starting in the old town then it is up hill with a significant amount of steps. But view is worth it and you can capture the main part of the old town with towers and spires. Perfect. Nearby souvenirs around here. I went there very early so nobody there really. Wanted to see it with blue skies.
