Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland11,521 contributionsI absolutely loved St. Elizabeth's and went in on every one of my three days in the city.
A combo ticket is available to cover the cost of entry to the cathedral, the crypt and the spiral staircase inside as well as the steps up to the tower outside. For an extra euro it allowed access to the small Chapel next door. All only six euro.
Beautiful gothic cathedral with huge columns and vaulted ceiling. The altar was a beautiful golden triptych and the place was resplendant in bright light coming in through the many, many stained glass windows.
Although the cathedral is about 600 years old, there has obviously been extensive renovations/restoration as the place looks absolutely pristine.
The spiral staircase is a must as you get a birds eye view of the interior and the tower is fantastic as you get absolutely the best view of Kosice from the top, 164 stone-cut steps up.
Outside is beautiful too, especially when the golden sunlight lights up the stone.
Honestly, the highlight of any visit to Kosice, I just couldn't get enough of the place.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A rather southern experience in mood, too, not just the location :)
Walk aound, enjoy yards, passages and cafes.
I could not visit any museums, as we were visiting during the high holiday time, so, no museum review this time.Written 5 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland11,521 contributionsOne of the most photogenic buildings in Kosice I would say. It's located near the cathedral on the road to the main bus and train stations, next to Mestskey Park.
To my knowledge its not visitable on the inside, but it's definitely worth a photo stop.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's about 100m beyond the Opera House, and about a three minute walk from the cathedral.
I'd be a oity to miss it.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland11,521 contributionsLovely views of the city and wll warth the short journey out of town.
Bus No.29 goes from outside the main train and bus station and takes about 15 or so minutes. Coat is €1 each way for adults.
At the stop you then walk uphill through the forest along a well worn path to the Lookout. There is a car park there also.
It does close seasonally but never fear, there is another viewpoint 100m from it along the path on the ridge.
There are castle ruins there and a skansen-type reconstruction of a medieval village complete with small museum and toilets.
There was a little food truck there serving snacks.
Tip- get two bus tickets in the city, one for each way of the journey as there is no ticket machine up there. There is one at the city end.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff was okay.Written 6 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can get a combo ticket in the cathedral.
It dates from 1380 and the guide told me it's mainly used now for weddings, funerals abd sometimes on Sundays.
Well worth taking in this little gem.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Its right on Hlavna, well worth a stop
To my knowledge it is not open to the public, at least not when I was there, but it's still well worth a look from the outside.
A charming building, jusy like so many others in this gem of a town centre.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If the door is closed, the key is in the cathedral shop and the entry fee is very small.
Actually, on my visit while restoration was ongoing, there were info boards all around the outside which made interesting and compelling reading. I learned a lot from these reading them on the night I arrived, so the following morning I made my visit first thing.
Definitely worth doing as part of a trip to see the cathedral.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is easy to find, located nearby to St. Elizabeth's Church and the historic centre. It's next to the Aupark Shopping Mall.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SwisshenPerth, Australia2,334 contributionsAll around Kosice you will find tiny sections of old stone work roped off but not until you visit the museum will you realise that the is the hidden Medieval walls. For a modest fee you can enter. Sadly their is a lack of information, which the museum could benefit from. But still worth a visitWritten 24 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SwisshenPerth, Australia2,334 contributionsThe oldest Marathon in Europe is represented by the statue of the runner known as the 'Victory Herald' which was built in 1960 and has since become the symbol of the historic race. Every winner of the Kosice Peace Marathon is inscribed on to the statue.Written 22 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laczkozsuDebrecen, Hungary2,531 contributionsIt’s near the main street and it’s worth to walk there, especially for Hungarians and history-fans. Ferenc Rakoczi II. prince is a famous national hero for us. He was the leader of the uprising against Habsburgs between 1703-11. He was exiled to Rodosto (Turkey). This Memorial House is the copy of his house with some original parts, so it’s called Rodosto-House, too. Outside we can see the statue of him.Written 26 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SwisshenPerth, Australia2,334 contributionsThis is the oldest and first ever municipal coat-of-arms in Europe, dating from 1369. The beautiful angel stands proud with her wings spreads out, showing her as the protector of Košice, holding the coat-of-arms in its hands. You will find her at the front of the park around St Michael's Chapel.Written 13 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
