Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Like all old towns in Eastern Europe this one doesn’t disappoint. Everything close together. Beautiful surroundings with so much to see.

    Defo worth the visit.

I absolutely loved my recent trip to Devin castle.
Took a bus from Bratislava centre to get there and was very easy. About 30 mins then 10 min walk from bus stop.
I would definitely recommend getting here early. I got here before opening to wander around the grounds before the castle entry opened.
Because I went early it was quite quiet and nice to take in the views before everyone came and started taking each other posing photos haha.
The ruins and grounds are definitely worth a visit and such cheap entry.
The little bar at the bottom of the castle grounds is great for a little drink also.
Such friendly staff and great for a beer after my walk!

Cute church, interesting style. I'm glad we didn't force ourselves to get up at 6am to see the inside, since during it's non-working hours, you can still go in through first doors and see the inside through the glassed second doors

Great museum with a very interesting permanent exhibition. Parts of the walls are glass, so you can see the river from inside the building. Both indoors and outdoors exhibitions are lovely. Easy parking, very nice cafe. When sunny, enjoy a coffee break outside. You should spend at least one and a half hour to see the whole exhibition.

Didn't go inside the castle during our visit. We did walk around the grounds which are nice, some lovely statues, monuments in the grounds. Fabulous views over the river.

This was an easy walk from our hotel, although we weren't downtown. But even from downtown this is very doable. Great outing for a good weather day.

You don't need to be on a tour to see Slavin, unless you are looking for an escort with some verbal, historical information.

Great views of the city as well!

OK, the chance to look up and down the Danube River and across the Slovak National Uprising Bridge to old Bratislava from 85m/275 high is irresistible. Yes, there is a decent restaurant at the top if you want to be formal, or you can just choose something light served at one of small tables lined up along the windows. It's a big place. We had a lovely late-afternoon snack of wine and pastry, priced a bit on the high side, which is perfectly understandable, given the unique location and character.

But so what? It's a million dollar view. Like other such stuctures once colorfully called "space needles," this one invites you there to gawk, so enjoy it. The food and libations are a pleasant addition. We enjoyed ours, taking our time so we could see and photograph all the views. The staff were very pleasant; no one rushed us, and in truth all the employees seemed to be as happy as were, up there taking in the sights on a splendid day of blue sky and long views.

It's a short easy walk from old Bratislava over the bridge named above. If you want to add a bit of exercise ahead of dining, you can always choose another bridge crossing and hike on the opposite side of the river to get to the UFO which is, after all, built on the side of the National Rising Bridge that is closer to the far bank.

We chose to cross on the Lanfranconi bridge, as that took us through an interesting part of the city, with good examples of art nouveau architecture that we wanted to see.

It's quite a trek, and some of the pathway is a bit crumbly and at times hard to navigate, given the number of public recreational areas and boat/ship moorings along the way, but it gives an entirely different view, whets the appetite, and IMO is worth the time and effort -- assuming you're fit and curious enough to want to go on your own route rather than just following everyone else going there by the shortest, easiest way.

    Highly Recommended.

The tower is historic, picturesque, and well-renovated. It's definitely worth seeing and walking through.
I really recommend going up the tower, you can buy tickets at a good price at the pharmacy a bit further up the street and the view of the old town, castle, and chapel is really nice.
The tower also has lots of information and artefacts all to do with the tower's history which was interesting to see and read about.
You definitely get your money's worth and it was just a nice overall experience.

Nice small square with some beautiful buildings and a few small shops. Really busy hub of activity. Few benches to sit on to just sit and watch all that is going on.

Tower Michaels gate is the only tower of the old city walls that is left. It is at the end of St Michaels street. It used to sit over a moat surrounding the old city in the 1300's. It is a must see if the old city as its one of the oldest buildings in town.

The old town hall is an interesting place to visit.
A climb up to the top of the tower is a must do.
When you get there, there are beautiful views over the old city.

This was out favorite area in Bratislava, a very picturesque little street with lots of trees, statues, restaurants, and ice cream shops. Right next to the river, it is a great place to walk down or sit and relax.
