Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I bought same day train tickets to Bratislava at the OBB ticket office at Wien HBF (Central Station) for 36 Euros same day return for the both of us. The Regio Jet bus alternative cost 37.80 Euros same day return, but they are timed tickets (which means you can't come back earlier, or if you miss your bus time, you'll have to buy another ticket; see attached photo). The OBB train is flexible, you may catch any train returning to Vienna on the same day; plus, the Bratislava public transportation was free with our train ticket. I attached pictures of the train, Bratislava train station and some of the Old Town. Bratislava Old Town is small, easily walkable and could be done in a couple of hours, unless you spend time at a local restaurant. About the train station, (don't go towards the front doors) you have to walk down to the long wide tunnel (underneath the train tracks), go up and cross the street to the bus stop to catch the bus for the Old Town. You return to the train station doing the same in reverse. We were always quick to ask for directions and people were helpful.

Did not realize that this small statue had a name, but did learn the story behind it on our tour. Many of the streets had interesting markers and manhole covers, but this beats them all.

This art nouveau church is worth the short walk from the old town. We could only look inside but the architecture and decor is definitely unique.

Take a tour bus up there and spend 20mins with your thoughts. Oh, and it looks spectacular with great views of the city. A must do in bratislava.

In December last year as we were returning from Prague we stopped at the castle of Bratislava - did not have too much time - about 30-35 minutes - so it was a quick stop at the castle - the museum was already close - the baroque garden - the famous baroque garden in December is not exactly in bloom ... so it was closed when we arrive.
However it was interesting the Medieval Christmas fare that was organized in the inner courtyard of the castle.
Now what you need to know about this place - the hill where castle is seating today was a stronghold since stone age through the iron age, later the Celts and after them the Romans came and 2 legions had their "Castrum" on this hill , from the dark ages to the medieval times the fortification grew and changed hands.
From the 1552 till 1784 the crown jewels of Hungary were kept here - since the royal court of Hungary move their capital to Bratislava after they've lost the battle of Mohacs against the Ottoman empire in 1526.
Nowadays is a landmark of the city - the view from its park towards the Danube are also beautiful - and definitely worth to spent more time than I had ... but I will return - that's certain.

Sitting at the top of a busy little market lane dominates the skyline. It’s a beautiful tower with lovely colours to make it stand out.
A must see if in town I think.

Tower Michaels gate is the only tower of the old city walls that is left. It is at the end of St Michaels street. It used to sit over a moat surrounding the old city in the 1300's. It is a must see if the old city as its one of the oldest buildings in town.

One of many excellent areas to see during your visit. Bratislava is full of surprises and is really a joy as everything clean and kept in pristine condition.

This is a beautiful cathedral in Old Town near Bratislava Castle. Though not large, it is historically significant as a coronation site for Hungarian kings. It is definitely worthwhile to stop in.

Interesting museum with a great view over the city from the Tower. Be aware that the Tower can only be accessed via a narrow spiral staircase with around 80 steps I also enjoyed the exhibition on 1960s Bratislava, including the events of the 1968 Prague Spring

Great place to stroll down in the evening. It’s very well laid out and has many many gelatos down the sides. On a warm day it’s great to have an ice cream and sit and watch the world go by. A favorite spot of mine.

Such building like these are usually always impressive. This one is no exception and sits nicely in the main square.

As most buildings in Bratislava the place is immaculately kept and looks amazing.

My hotel was next door so I had the pleasure of walking past it on several occasions.

I went here because my daughter is real cat lover and I wanted to experience a car cafe. Well I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The cats were friendly and gentle.
I had a drink and a grilled sandwich. Very nice and very cheap.
    Well done…… keep it up.
