In July 2024 we've been back to Bratislava for a few days and we have visited - again - the castle of Bratislava.
Since we were walking, coming from the direction of the old town - obviously we've been entering the Castle premises via the the Sigismund gate.
It got it's name from Sigismund of Luxemburg - Hungarian, Croatian, Roman, and Bohemian king and lets not forget Holy Roman Emperor between 1387–1437 ( mentioning that he was crowned at different periods of time in Hungary, Bohemia , etc. - however he was ruling altogether 50 years over several countries and eventually an Empire).
The gate is still impressive and according to the details as you can find if you are researching a bit ( or simply walk the castle hill with both eyes open and reading the divers signs here an' there ...) it is looking the same way since 1515 ... so more than 500 since it got this appearance.
A nice architectural piece, part of the fortification of the castle of Bratislava , when visiting for sure it is worth some minutes of your time and some pictures.
