It has been there for well over a thousand years and looks down over the Danube River.

We have enjoyed the old town with castles and churches the most, but also appreciate many of the restaurants, bars and malls.
Reason for not giving a 5/5 rating, is the touristic impact especially in the old town area . This is a shame.

You don't need to be on a tour to see Slavin, unless you are looking for an escort with some verbal, historical information.

Considering the extent of the castle the cost is remarkable reasonable.
I am sure that it would be top of most visitors lists of places to visit, you will not be disappointed.
Do remember to go round side of castle to visit the gardens.

On the south side, is the bustling area of old town with restaurants and shops. On the north side, you have left old town and it is obvious – it's quite a stark contrast. We did not visit the museum portion, but rather just took in its fantastic view several times. It's also a great street for shops and cafes. It is surrounded by some lovely buildings like the Old Town Hall, some palaces and some embassies. It has some statues and monuments worth seeing in it. It also has restaurants and bars in it. It is at the end of St Michaels street. It used to sit over a moat surrounding the old city in the 1300's. A climb up to the top of the tower is a must do.

The church and was rebuilt in the 18th century with a Baroque appearance.
