Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bratislava was one of our cruise ports on the Emerald Sun Danube cruise. The walking tour we took part in was excellent. The history is very interesting given the amount of times the country's borders have changed over the years.

The castle is a ruin but that shouldn't stop you from visiting.
It has been there for well over a thousand years and looks down over the Danube River.
It's about 25 kms from Bratislava and can be reached by bus.

Bratislava is like many older Eastern European cities, a mix of old culture and modern living. We have enjoyed the old town with castles and churches the most, but also appreciate many of the restaurants, bars and malls.
Reason for not giving a 5/5 rating, is the touristic impact especially in the old town area . This is a shame.
Everything else is great and we could easily swing by another time.

And you can visit the interior, and take pictures, we arrived 30min prior to the mass and it was perfect. Very strange indeeed, it does have a bit of orthodox-look...

This was an easy walk from our hotel, although we weren't downtown. But even from downtown this is very doable. Great outing for a good weather day.

You don't need to be on a tour to see Slavin, unless you are looking for an escort with some verbal, historical information.

Great views of the city as well!

Very interesting and well presented. Various exhibitions on different floors. Considering the extent of the castle the cost is remarkable reasonable.
I am sure that it would be top of most visitors lists of places to visit, you will not be disappointed.
Do remember to go round side of castle to visit the gardens.
    Marvellous views over Danube

Towering over old town, it is hard to miss this. It’s a beautiful design and well maintained. On the south side, is the bustling area of old town with restaurants and shops. On the north side, you have left old town and it is obvious – it's quite a stark contrast. We did not visit the museum portion, but rather just took in its fantastic view several times. It's also a great street for shops and cafes. Try out the honey shop for some mead samples and great products.

As Bratislava Old Town is quite compact, so is the Old Town Square. Its not an overly large square but is still a good little square.
It is surrounded by some lovely buildings like the Old Town Hall, some palaces and some embassies. It has some statues and monuments worth seeing in it. It also has restaurants and bars in it. You can get a good view of the square from the tower in the Old Town Hall.

Tower Michaels gate is the only tower of the old city walls that is left. It is at the end of St Michaels street. It used to sit over a moat surrounding the old city in the 1300's. It is a must see if the old city as its one of the oldest buildings in town.

The old town hall is an interesting place to visit.
A climb up to the top of the tower is a must do.
When you get there, there are beautiful views over the old city.

This was out favorite area in Bratislava, a very picturesque little street with lots of trees, statues, restaurants, and ice cream shops. Right next to the river, it is a great place to walk down or sit and relax.

We didn’t expect to find one of Napoleon's soldiers in Bratislava, but here he is. Right in front of the French Embassy in the main square. He must be the most photographed 'man' in town. Everyone stops to get a photo. Why not?

It is so lovely, as an American, to see such an incredibly beautiful building with the name "Philharmonic" on the top. How lucky Bratislava is to have such a beautiful place.
