Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I hired a car with an English speaking driver from Vienna to Budapest, Hungary with stop-over in Bratislava. We were charged Euro 200/- one way trip. We found it was cheap because the driver picked us from Vienna hotel and dropped us at Budapest hotel. On top of that, he took us for a walking tour to see the old palace, government buildings and the narrow streets of downtown Bratislava and fantastic Blue Church.

Bratislava is a small city and the whole tour took us only one hour. But it is a nice city with nice friendly people.

The tour guide was a little bit late arriving but more than made up for it with a very good tour of a charming European town that is unexpected for travelers used to Western Europe. Part history lesson, part food tour, part sight seeing it was a perfect blend for first time visitors to Bratislava. The weather was chilly and rainy and she also made sure to keep us undercover as much as possible.

The views were amazing, we took many photos. Our business partners have been excited. It is a pity that at the time of our tour Slavin area was dark - little fog.

We loved this tour. We learned a lot of historical information about the city of Bratislava and were able to see a lot of things in a short amount of time. It helped wrap our minds around the city so we knew where things were. We were given time at the castle to look around and enjoy the fantastic view. This city is amazing and this was a great way to see it. The tour lasted about an hour.

Wonderful insights into life in Bratislava under Communism, especially for anyone with childhood memories. Brano took me around in the 1970s Škoda, picked me up at a tailored location and time.

I had an amazing day touring Bratislava with Gabriela. She was enthusiastic and engaging with the history and stories she told of her traditions and culture. She brought me along to all the important sights and introduced me to the tastes of her country. It was a magical day with a sprinkle of snow, hearty warm food and delicious drinks to sample. We visited Devin Ruins, Bratislava Castle, the Cathedral, Slavin Monument, Old Town, and many lesser know local places. We were also lucky enough to visit inside the famous Blue Church of St Elizabeth, which was an unmissable sight. I had a lovely day with someone who felt like an old friend showing me around her favourite spots in the city she grew up in.

My friend and I went from Budapest to Vienna with Sidetrip Tours with a stop at Bratislava. However, we also made sidetrip tours to Szentendre, Esztergom and Gyor before stopping at Bratislava. I wanted to visit Gyor but didn't think we had the time. Were we ecstatic! Didn't know that was part of our itinerary! Didn't know about Szentendre, but happy to discover this quaint artistic village. Lots of little shops for shopaholic like us! Our guide, Csenge, was amazing. She communicated with me thru WhatsApp day before to tell me what to expect. And she was on time the following morning! An excellent driver and tour guide! I recommend Sidetrip Tours to everyone!

I've been on day trips in many countries and this was one of the worst tours I've ever been on. First, Simeon, the tour guide and driver, who was supposed to pick me up couldn't find my address even though he had GPS. I sent him a pin and he still couldn't find me. He was just up the block so I walked up to meet him. Second. when we arrived at Budapest, it turned out we're on the Pest side and didn't see more than half of the locations on our itinerary including Buda Castle, Slavin Memorial, and Devin Castle. Simeon told us we could walk across the bridge to Buda. Gee, thanks! There was no guided tour at St. Stephen's Basilica but he did show us where the ticket office was to purchase tickets to go up to the bell tower. Simeon spent the walking tour in Pest discussing the fiscal and economic policies of Nazi Germany, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia in front of the Parliament. It was boring and dull and so was he. There was no mention of Budapest's history, culture, and national landmarks. Later, as he was dropping us all back at our hotels/homes, he dropped off a couple at the wrong hotel even though he picked them up at the right hotel in the morning. Seriously? Then he says he knows how to get to my apartment but when we arrive in my neighborhood, he asks me, "Are we there yet?" 😒 Simeon seemed pleasant enough but is one of the least interesting and knowledgeable guides I've ever had on a day tour. He needs to take a course or trail a better guide (if there are any at this company) on a tour to learn on how to do better.

What was marketed as a great trip…. We didn’t get. We booked this trip due to the content described and the fact it was with a professional photographer. Our guide whilst perfectly pleasant and knowledgable was not a professional photographer and didn’t show us the sights due to time constraints. The car was too cramped, smelly and hot. No water provided, no planned stop for lunch so we grabbed something and ate it in the car. When we arrived in Budapest we spent too long at the castle and not enough time elsewhere. We parked close to the parliament building (but he hurried us round as was worried about where he’d parked the car) didn’t see the inside of the cathedral (which would have been amazing) but instead showed us pictures from Google on his laptop whilst driving and only saw the exterior from the car. He said we had run out of time to see it but seemed to have time to go to a Christmas market and a bar which we declined because by this stage we had lost interest. He decided not to stop at Gyor as he felt the time was spent better in Budapest which is ironic considering we ran out of time there and barely saw it. Bratislava great, spent about an hour on our own exploring. We were also expecting a larger group tour. Possibly would have cancelled had we known it was only us. We paid quite a lot of money for this and quite honestly would have rather spent the money getting the train there and touring it independently. Really disappointed

The tour itinerary followed as advertised. Arriving in the city , a local guide will be with you at most 2 hrs , then the rest will be your own time. Since the catamaran trip back to Vienna is at 6:30pm you have enough time to roam discover tiny street around old town, and picturesque buildings. After sometimes the allocated time by your own is too much , might get bored waiting for the catamaran trip back to vienna .
Recommended a day trip to Bratislava.

We originally went with a small half day group tour. This was cancelled due to numbers and said in the original booking conditions, the great news was they were flexible enough that we could book a personalised tour on the day.
That said Bratislava and the tour was excellent. Loved the old town and castle and enjoyed looking at the details. We went for the Xmas markets and they were good… but upon reflection wish it was at night!
    Prices everywhere where great
So much cheaper than other European cities
    Food and drink were great
Do yourself a favour and go
See another flavour in the dessert that is Europe

Highly recommended tour. We had great time in Bratislava with our tour guide Luba who showed us all the highlights of this little charming city- views from Bratislava castle, walk across old town and cathedral where Maria Theresa was coronated.

Over the weekend, my family from Germany and I took a trip to Devin Castle and I have to say it was worth it. A kind lady guide greeted us in front of the hotel and we waited with her for the car that took us to Devin. We also visited the Devin winery, where we were introduced to various types of wine.
