Lovely by day but beautiful by night when it is lit up and viewed from the river or Margaret bridge.

We walked over from the Pest side of the river and came up to the castle via a funicular and eventually walked across to the church and the fishermen’s bastion. This is a special magical area over in Buda right on the Danube. Highly recommended.

We went to a recital one evening which was lovely. The area around the basilica has lots of cafes and restaurants.

Of all the cities we sailed past on our Danube River cruise Budapest is the most stunning. The way the city spreads across both banks and the incredible historic sites on both banks makes it unlike any other city in Europe. We sailed from Passau, Germany to here and now we are so enamored we are planning a trip from Budapest to the Black Sea and perhaps even a city stay.

The palace grounds provides a panoramic view of the Danube River and the City of Pest. It’s worth the effort to get there. It’s easily accessible by the trams and by the funicular railroad. The views are spectacular. Some of the buildings are being restored. There is a bar on the grounds where you can get a couple glasses of wine, sit by the statue in front of the palace and watch the world go by. Best place for people watching.

A lovely break from the hustle and bustle of the city; easily accessible by tram from the city centre. You can either walk through the park or hire a cart to cycle round; either are a great option. Beautifully maintained with lots of flowers, there is also a monastery at the end of the walk which is lovely. We spent about 2-3 hours here and it costs nothing for entry. There are food carts dotted around if you want to eat something as well as toilets, but these are usually 250 HUF per visit. Would recommend

To say reaching the top in 30 degrees of afternoon heat and humidity was a trek would be an understatement. To say I was more than delighted that I did, would also be an understatement. The views are spectacular. The views are spectacular. Panoramic. There is an energy about this place that is hard to explain. It almost feels like you become revitalised after every viewing point.

Was so looking forward to seeing it, having seen it feature in so many photos of Budapest... But it is currently closed and completely under cover for renovation.

This was a very interesting church on the Buda side of the Danube. The porcelain tiles on the roof are enticing by themselves. Inside, the structure is heavily painted. (Read about Matthias, an important king for Hungary). The last emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire chose this church for his coronation. The area around the church is lovely and there is a great view of the Danube. This is close to the Palace area.

We were taken here on a guided tour and given the history of the various key figures. This is an impressive place highlighting Hungary’s history. The horse is a major part of their national psyche. The monuments are rich in meaning and well worth a visit.

The citadel is closed to be renovated. But it is worth to go there and see the beautiful view of Budabest especially at night. There is so dark so don’t forget to have a flashlight in your phone :)

Nice traditional bulding, an interesting tour with fancy chocolates. We came with a gift coupon, took part with a group of 15-20 people. It was wholesome. Recommended!

The castle is in a very big park. We climbed up a tower to have a beautiful view from the top. The ticket was very cheap. But walking around is for free, unless you want ro go into the castle. Various statues around. Look out for the Anonymous statue! Beautiful buildings.
