What travellers are saying
- Thomas ASoenderborg, Denmark353 contributionsThe lake is beatiful and the locks are an experience. Plenty of scenery to take in. Definitely a recommendable trip.Written 1 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bocca DorataTampere, Finland22 contributionsInteresting spot. I wonder how do they manage to keep their sculpture up even with the rain and the wind. Do they blaze the sand somehow?Written 23 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JellonaVantaa, Finland1,431 contributionsPlenty of history around in this nice, quiet neighborhood. There are not really that much left of the actual fortress (only the outer walls, I think...) but nice old buiildings and a nice view to the lake.Written 24 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Rajan V KTampere, Finland2 contributionsIt is a wonderful place for shopping with almost everything available. Really enjoyed the shopping here.Written 15 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Petra YLappeenranta, Finland101 contributionsWolkoff family lived in this house for about a century until mid 80s. They have kept and saved pretty much everything, so you can see f.ex. one of the first telephones in Lappeenranta. Everything is authentic, really interesting place to visit.Written 3 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsThis charming church can be found at the Lappeenranta Fortress. It was completed in 1785 during the reign of Catherine the Great.
The church was closed during our visit. So we couldn't see the interior.Written 16 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Simo RLappeenranta, Finland62 contributionsInside theme park at the "Capri" Shopping center. 18 eur for each (3 yrs and up) or 58 eur for the whole family. You can leave the place and come back with the bracelet. Our 5 yrs old boy enjoyed very much and I can imagine it will be even better after few years, when he gets older. In my opinion, it's a little bit over priced - compared to bigger outdoor theme parks. But hey, this is fun also in winter time or when it's raining!
Video games, rope slide, foam block sea, inside real ice hockey and football style games, paddle cars, slides, Angry Birds toons.
There is also variety of merchandise available and a cafe.Written 16 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Saqlain AEspoo, Finland11 contributionsIt's a really cool place with lots of shops of all sort, ranging from clothes to mobile stuff and of course several good cafeterias as well. The wifi of the centre was not working during my time and that was annoying but luckily there are several open wifi's available so it shouldn't be a problem.Written 21 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsThis museum is situated in the Lappeenranta Fortress. The museum is housed in the grey-stone buildings of the former artillery depot which were completed at the beginning of the 19th century.
South Karelia Museum exhibits the history and traditions of the Karelia area, on both sides of the eastern border.
On our visit, the exhibition opened up Finnish refugee history and put it in context with broader refugee movements in Europe and across the globe.Written 16 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - B TLondon, UK817 contributionsVery large church with a belltower, worth a visit, although it did not look to be open so you couldn't go inside.Written 9 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vasavaprLappeenranta, Finland680 contributionsDuring our visit the place was partially closed so we could not see all the animals. But it was fun to see what ever we could see. We tried catching fish from the pond which was also fun experience (because its pretty much guaranteed that you would catch something xD ).
This is a good place especially for children and families.Written 20 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsLappeenranta Central Station is located within a 10 minutes walk from the city center. The station is served by traffic to Helsinki and Joensuu.
The station building was completed in 1934. The building was renovated in the early 2000s.
The station has a cafe-restaurant, a taxi stop, and a bus stop.Written 16 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Kari VJyväskylä, Finland236 contributionsAt first sight you are amazed. When you look at the church outside, you might think it is a runway to heaven. Someone would say it is not beautiful becaus it is made of concrete. We thought it is beautiful in it's own way.Written 12 October 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
