Wonderful park, where you enjoy your walking and at the same time you discover step by step the magnificent rock drawings. It is very impressive since these drawings are original, and not just a reproduction like, for example, those in Montignac (France). in Capo di Ponte there is also an interesting museum. To come here, you drive in the Val Camonica, and the whole journey along the mountains and the Lake Iseo is a landscape of rare beauty.

The church's main features are some 11-12C frescos and a crypt (which was closed when we visited because some musicians were using it after a concert). Its a very pleasant walk across the river and up to the church.

We visited on a sunny hot autumn day, with only 1 other visitor in the whole place, so we enjoyed a peaceful wander through these ancient glades, with wild flowers and butterflies all around. The inscribed rocks and easily located, and there are helpful drawings on the signs. We exited via the top of the park, and strolled back down to Capo di Ponte

Great information about the ancient rock art in the Comonica Valley. Worth the time it takes to research and drive to. Allow yourself plenty time to allow visit the rocks in the valley.

The rock art features Remedello daggers and oxen not horses which means that the art is Copper Age dating from about 3000BC. There are two extremely large decorated boulders which will have fallen off the cliff behind. There were also Staheli on the site which are now in the museum in Capo di Ponte.
