Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited with Setomaa Tour Guide Helen Kyvik. We found the displays honouring the lives and songs of Seto women both interesting and moving. The museum contains a great story of survival, determination and "making beauty' - despite hardship.

This central square is newly renovated. Very modern with large "bowls" with flowers and one even with herbs+vegetables(!!!). Not far from this square are some original boutiques, real jewels of its kind. There are also some art studios, souvenir and antique shops worth visiting.
The two most interesting ones are Happy Nature Studio in 11A Liiva street and "Emmaroos" in Jüri street. The first has lovely, even gorgeous, redecorated(painted) pieces of furniture. The small shop has so many details one has to take time to see them.
The "Emmaroos" is another big surprise - not a flower shop but mainly handmade objects and inported clothes.
In Jüri street there is an art shop near "Emmaroos". Full of original Estonian art.
By the square are two interesting shopa."Karma" is so rich in old household objects, furniture, crockery etc etc.It is almost a museum. On the other side of the square there is a lovely souvenir shop. The church at the square is just a nice one to enter and have a quiet moment.

Jüri tänaval on jälle omapärane butiik "Emmaroos",kus palju käsitöötoodangut. Mõned majad edasi on väga rikkalik originaalkunsti pood - pildid, keraamika jne jne.
Väljaku ääres on "Karma".See lausa nagu muuseum, kuigi tegelikult pood. Teisel pool väljakut Tartu tänaval ilus suveniiripood mitmekesise kaubaga.

Recently four of us experienced an authentic Estonian smoke sauna to learn about the country culture and practices in a unique and wonderful way. We met the most knowledgeable practitioner, Eda at her beautiful farm. We had a delightful and fascinating experience in the sauna, moist wood heated stones, a salt scrub, mud scrub, stimulating circulation with leafy branches. Throughout the sauna, the associated folk traditions were told by Eda through stories, drumming and repeating mantras. The pond nearby provided a cooling dip (for those who want the real experience). We were also able to sample the local food and meats smoked at the farm. This was an amazing visit on our tour and is highly recommended for those interested in folk lore. The sauna is on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage due to the efforts in Eda's interest in preserving these country traditions. Plan on at least 3 hours. An unforgettable experience.

If you are in the Setomaa region, this interesting castle ruin is worth a visit. We enjoyed the interactive displays, staff in period costume, climbing a castle tower and watching the family of storks in their nest on top of the tower. Make sure you visit the interpretive centre (with multiple floors so it is much larger than it looks from the outside) and also walk down the hill to the playground /picnic area by the river, for a unique view of the castle ruins.

A must visit when traveling to Suur Munamagi. It costs 3€ to use the stairs and 6€ to go up by elevator. Bore are fine. The views from the top are amazing. A must visit.
Spend some time to walk in the surrounding areas.

Amazing place for the family, particularly the little people. The tour guides are very informative and engaging and you can learn much about the history of this unique, man made network of caves.

Cool tower, beautiful view! Lovely area! Definitely worth visiting with nice weather! We were there all alone in the evening. They even had a bottle of desinfectant there! Even teenagers enoyed the place! :)

A welcoming place half-way between the Central Town Square and Lake Tamula. Worth a visit to learn more about the region and explore high quality art exhibitions. Recommend to have a look at the museum shop and get a bottle of the local mineral water.

We got a guided tour through the houses which was a great experience with a lot of information we would have missed otherwise. We loved the visit to this little open air museum. It shows you how the Estonian farmers lived under the Baltic Germans.
